President Dr. Mwinyi Commends India for Strengthening Development Cooperation with Zanzibar

Zanzibar, May 14, 2026 — The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has expressed profound appreciation to the Government of India for its continued commitment to strengthening development cooperation with Zanzibar across a wide range of social and economic sectors. The President noted that the longstanding partnership between Zanzibar and India has generated significant benefits for the people of the islands through investments in water supply, education, technology, healthcare, human resource development, and renewable energy.

President Dr. Mwinyi made these remarks during a farewell meeting held at the State House in Zanzibar with the Consul General of India in Zanzibar, Mr. Kumar Praveen, who paid a courtesy visit following the completion of his diplomatic assignment in the country.
