Everyone seems to have the same fear lately:

“If I use AI, won’t my writing sound robotic?”

I used to think the same thing.

When I first started using AI, everything it generated sounded… perfect. Too perfect. Every sentence was polished, every paragraph followed the same rhythm, and after reading a few lines, I could instantly tell it was written by AI.

That’s when I realized something important:

AI isn’t the writer. It’s the assistant.

The final voice should always be yours.

I Never Copy the First Draft

One mistake many people make is treating AI like a vending machine.

Type a prompt.

Copy the result.

Publish it.

That’s exactly why so much content feels identical.

Instead, I treat AI like a brainstorming partner.

The first response is just raw material. I rewrite sentences, remove clichés, add my own experiences, and sometimes completely change the structure.

By the end, the article barely resembles the original output.

I Give AI My Voice First

Instead of saying:

“Write an article about productivity.”

I tell it things like:

• Write in a conversational tone.
• Avoid corporate language.
• Keep sentences short.
• Sound like you’re talking to one person.
• Don’t overuse fancy vocabulary.

The better the instructions, the more useful the draft becomes.

I Add Things AI Doesn’t Know

AI doesn’t know what happened during my day.

It doesn’t know why I failed at something.

It doesn’t know the conversation I had with a friend last week.

Those details make writing feel real.

Whenever I publish something, I add stories, opinions, mistakes, or lessons I’ve actually experienced.

That’s the part readers connect with.

I Remove “AI Words”

After generating a draft, I do one more editing pass.

I look for words that appear everywhere in AI-generated writing:

• Delve
• Leverage
• Unlock
• Transform
• Navigate
• Robust
• In today’s fast-paced world…

Most of them disappear.

Simple language almost always feels more human.

I Read Everything Out Loud

This is probably my favorite trick.

If a sentence sounds awkward when I say it out loud, I rewrite it.

Good writing should sound like a real conversation — not a textbook.

AI Saves Time. It Doesn’t Replace Thinking.

People often ask whether AI will replace writers.

I don’t think so.

It replaces repetitive work.

It speeds up research.

It helps organize ideas.

But curiosity, perspective, humor, emotions, and personal experience still come from humans.

Those things can’t be generated from a prompt alone.

My Rule

I never ask AI to write for me.

I ask it to write with me.

That small difference changes everything.

The goal isn’t to hide that you use AI.

The goal is to make sure your ideas, personality, and voice remain impossible to copy.

Because in a world where everyone has access to the same AI tools, your perspective becomes your biggest advantage.
