A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck Laguna on Tuesday afternoon, briefly rattling residents in nearby areas. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tremor was recorded at around 2:45 p.m., with its epicenter located near Calamba City, Laguna.
The quake was tectonic in origin, meaning it was caused by the movement of geological faults. Phivolcs noted that no damage or aftershocks are expected, but residents were reminded to stay alert for safety.
Several nearby provinces, including Cavite and Batangas, also reported weak shaking, while social media users described feeling light vibrations lasting only a few seconds.
Authorities urged the public to remain calm and review earthquake preparedness measures, emphasizing the importance of staying away from structures that could be prone to falling debris during future tremors.
