Realty purchasers Beware of water logging!

This post is to illustrate a method to check the possibility of water logging in a given area before purchasing land or building home / occupying a place for rent.

Water logging has become a big problem in areas in vicinity of Urban areas (Cities) due to encroachment of lake land fills. Change in climatic condition also resulting in abrupt and heavy rains .

Technique to check :

To check water level safety of a particular area go to google earth.

Check the above sea level of area of interest from nearest water body.

Lets analyse the recent water logging of areas near by Hafiz baba nagar Hyderabad which were inundated causing loss of life and property :

Enter Lat Long of the area or browse to the place as shown below:

Below googles Digital elevation model shows the height of places above sea level.

the relative difference shows the water body is above the area where people live.

It is just a matter of 2.0 m raise in water level it will breach the difference and rush towards the inner ring road and surrounding areas.

Max height observed = 529 m near the tank

Lowest point observed is 514 m near the road so this area is very low lying we may not be able to observe it physically though it is approx 1km away.
