From Side Hustle to Seven Figures: My Amazon Wholesale Growth Story

In early 2022, I found myself at a crossroads. For seven years, I had worked as a Sports Coordinator with the NYC Department of Education. It was a stable career that provided security, but I knew I wanted something more. During evenings and weekends, I had been quietly building an Amazon FBA wholesale business. What started as a side project was beginning to show real potential, and I faced a difficult decision: continue treating it as a side hustle or commit fully to its growth.

I chose the second option.

At the time, I was operating from a basement in New York with a laptop, limited capital, and a strong belief that Amazon wholesale could provide opportunities far beyond what I was experiencing in my career. While many people viewed the decision as risky, I saw it as a calculated move based on months of learning, testing, and observing consistent results.

One of the first questions people ask is why I chose wholesale instead of private label. The answer is simple. I wanted a business model built around proven demand.

Private label can be highly profitable, but it often requires significant investment in product development, branding, and marketing. There is also the challenge of competing against countless other sellers launching similar products. I wanted a model that focused on execution rather than speculation.

Amazon wholesale offered exactly that.

With wholesale, the products already exist. Customers are already searching for them. The products already have reviews and sales histories. Instead of creating demand, the focus shifts to sourcing inventory, building supplier relationships, and managing logistics efficiently.

That does not mean wholesale is easy.

When I transitioned into the business full-time, I quickly discovered how much I still had to learn. The first six months were filled with mistakes. I contacted suppliers before my account was fully prepared. I purchased products before confirming approval requirements. I misunderstood certain Amazon policies and learned some costly lessons.

At the time, those mistakes felt frustrating. Looking back, they were some of the most valuable experiences of my journey.

Each mistake forced me to improve. Every challenge revealed a weakness in my process. Instead of moving forward without structure, I began documenting everything. I created checklists for supplier outreach, standard operating procedures for inventory management, and systems for evaluating products before purchasing them.

Those systems changed everything.

Once processes became repeatable, the business became easier to manage and easier to scale. Instead of constantly solving the same problems, I could focus on growth opportunities.

The next major breakthrough came when I hired a virtual assistant.

Before bringing someone onto the team, I was handling every task myself. Inventory tracking, supplier communication, listing management, and administrative work filled most of my day. While these tasks were important, they prevented me from focusing on activities that directly generated revenue.

After documenting my processes, I delegated many routine responsibilities to a virtual assistant. This allowed me to spend more time building supplier relationships, evaluating deals, and planning for growth.

The results exceeded my expectations.

Within months, business performance improved dramatically. Revenue increased, operations became more efficient, and I finally had the freedom to focus on strategic decisions instead of daily maintenance.

This experience taught me a lesson that many entrepreneurs learn too late: your time is the most valuable asset in your business. Spending hours on tasks that can be delegated limits growth. The faster you create systems and build a team, the faster your business can scale.

As my Amazon wholesale business continued to grow, I began sharing what I had learned with others. I noticed a common pattern among aspiring sellers. Most were not failing because they lacked ambition. They were failing because they lacked structure.

Many people consumed endless content about Amazon FBA but never developed a clear roadmap for execution. They had information but lacked a system.

That realization eventually led to the creation of Abuv The Par, which I co-founded with Tayeb Rahim and Shofi Ahad.

Our mission is to simplify the Amazon wholesale journey by providing clear, actionable guidance. Rather than overwhelming entrepreneurs with unnecessary complexity, we focus on proven systems that produce measurable results.

Everything we teach is built around three core principles: establishing a strong account foundation, building supplier relationships, and creating systems that support long-term growth.

Looking back, the journey from side hustle to seven-figure business was not driven by luck or secret strategies. It was driven by consistent execution, continuous learning, and a commitment to building systems.

The most important lesson I learned is that success is not about working harder every day. It is about creating a business that can operate efficiently, grow consistently, and provide both financial freedom and time freedom.

That philosophy continues to guide my business today and remains at the heart of everything we do at Abuv The Par.
