The Plant She Brought Home Should Have Been Left Alone | Part 5: The Message

"Not every haunting is an act of evil. Some are desperate cries from souls that have been forgotten."

Charles refused to believe a single word Christina had been saying.

To him, everything had a logical explanation.

Stress.

Exhaustion.

Lack of sleep.

After returning home from the hospital, the neurologist had prescribed Christina a short course of sleeping pills and advised her to take a complete break from work.

For the first time in weeks, life finally seemed... normal.

The nightmares stopped.

The strange visions disappeared.

The crimson leaves no longer appeared throughout the garden.

Days passed peacefully.

Charles smiled.

"See? I told you. You just needed some rest."

Even Christina slowly began believing he was right.

Maybe it had all been stress.

Maybe the medication had finally cleared her mind.

Then...

One cold winter morning, while cleaning the bedroom window, Christina accidentally knocked over the ceramic pot that held the mysterious crimson plant.

The pot crashed onto the garden below.

It shattered into dozens of pieces.

Soil scattered everywhere.

Christina gasped.

She immediately rushed downstairs to collect the broken pieces before anyone got hurt.

But the moment she stepped into the garden...

She froze.

The shattered pot lay exactly where it had fallen.

Broken.

Empty.

Yet only a few feet away...

The crimson plant was standing inside its original ceramic pot.

Perfectly upright.

Not a single leaf was damaged.

As if it had never fallen at all.

Christina's heart began pounding.

It was the middle of winter.

Yet sweat rolled down her face.

She couldn't move.

She couldn't breathe.

Charles, hearing the noise, walked outside.

"What happened?"

With trembling hands, Christina pointed toward the plant.

"It... it fell."

"It broke."

"But... look."

Charles glanced toward the plant before looking back at her.

"Christina..."

"The plant has been there the whole time."

"You're still recovering. The medication can make you feel confused."

He gently held her hand.

"Come inside. You need to rest."

Christina looked back at the plant one last time.

It hadn't moved.

Not even an inch.

Trying to convince herself Charles was right, she returned inside and spent the rest of the day doing small household chores.

As evening fell...

She walked into the bedroom.

Something outside the window caught her attention.

The crimson plant.

It looked closer.

She blinked.

Closer.

Again.

Closer.

Until it was standing directly outside her bedroom window.

Her heartbeat stopped.

Then…

The mirror in front of her slowly changed.

Letters began appearing.

One by one.

As if an invisible hand was writing.

HELP US.

Christina stepped back.

Another message appeared.

ONLY YOU CAN SET US FREE.

Fear took over.

She covered herself with a blanket.

Her hands were shaking.

But after several moments…

Something inside her changed.

She realized…

The plant wasn’t attacking her.

It was asking for help.

Slowly…

She walked toward the mirror.

She picked up a lipstick.

With trembling hands, she wrote:

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?

The message disappeared.

New words appeared.

WE DO NOT WISH TO HARM YOU.

Another line followed.

WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE WHO COULD HEAR US.

Christina stared at the mirror.

She wrote:

WHY ME?

The answer appeared.

WE DID NOT CHOOSE YOU.

A pause.

Then:

YOUR LOVE FOR NATURE CHOSE YOU.

More words appeared.

YOU SEE LIFE WHERE OTHERS SEE ONLY PLANTS.

YOU CARE FOR WHAT OTHERS IGNORE.

THAT IS WHY YOU CAN HEAR US.

With tears in her eyes…

Christina wrote:

HOW CAN I HELP YOU?

The room suddenly became freezing cold.

The lights flickered.

Then the final message appeared.

RETURN TO WHERE YOU FOUND US.

BENEATH THE CRIMSON ROOTS…

THE TRUTH HAS BEEN BURIED FOR DECADES.

Christina stared at the words.

For the first time…

She understood.

The plant was never trying to harm her.

It was trying to tell her a story.

A story that the world had forgotten.

To Be Continued…
