A strawberry shortcake — one of those cakes that always catches my heart whenever I visit a cafe. It’s beautiful, even as a one slice. Somehow, it looks even more beautiful once it’s cut, when you can see each layer clearly, the fruit, the cream, and the sponge, all quietly stacked together.

Just like you. You’re not only interesting when you seem whole, but also when you reveal parts of yourself — your character, your little pieces. Maybe other people like you best when you appear complete, but I like seeing those pieces of you, even when they’re not perfect. So, may I have one of those pieces?

I’ve keep going back to that cafe so many times, ordered the same menu, sat in almost the same spot. I only watch it from afar, waiting for the right moment to finally buy and taste it, or maybe to share it with you one day. Sometimes I wonder if I should just try it on my own first, so I can tell you what it tastes like.

And if one day you happen to try it first, may I have a piece from you? Even if it’s already been bitten, I’d still want to taste it. It might sound strange, but I want to sit across from you, sharing the same plate, maybe even learning the way you enjoy it. So, may I have a slice of your cake? Even if it’s already bitten.
