The First Stroke

Hello Hello!

I’ve been wanting to start a blog just to have a space where I can post my own chisme I have collected over the years and will continue to experience as I start my journey in this art world.

I think chisme is essential to my being. I grew up on gossip TV talk shows, listening to the morning calls of fake phone calls to see if couples are cheating, and was at one point a platform where people came to me with confessions to tell on my own social media.

Although I don’t intend this to blow up, I want to read back on this or at least know that I am doing something aside from school, work, etc. I want to write because I have things to say that I can no longer condense in a tweet or in a small Instagram close friends’ story. Plus, for now, this is for me and me only, so it’s my little secret for the time being. Sounds fun!

To document myself a little: I work at a museum and have experience working in museums. I think starting at the bottom of the totem pole is fun. It allows me to dedicate myself to other priorities but also gives me firsthand experiences of things that seem crazy or out of the ordinary when you think about what happens in a museum.

It’s up to you to believe me or not, but all I can say is that it would be funny if museums were shown like The Office or Abbott Elementary. Only it’s a bit more serious, a bit elitist, and a bit more particular about how they want to portray themselves, so…

Anyway, Chisme on Canvas is my little passion project dedicated to making story times in an essay(?) format without getting on TikTok, as well as working on my writing!

Plus it seems cool to stray away from social media and put myself out there in a space that isn’t as intimidating, not sure how to start but I’ve been itching to post about how an exhibition ended abruptly due to foreign politics (allegedly)…

Maybe I’ll also change the name, sometimes the word “chisme” itself sounds a bit too corny (like Mitu or Perro Like)…

Anyways, wish me luck on my new little hobby! ☺︎
