Yang Jauh Luruh Menjadi Satu dalam Berpayung Tuhan

You might be asking ٱللَّٰه for a flower, while He has prepared a garden for you.

Lately, i haven’t been feeling entirely okay. Some days arrive quietly, yet leave a weight behind — as if my chest is filled with unspoken things, as if the world moves a little too fast while i’m still trying to catch my breath. And in the middle of that fragile state, i found myself pressing play on a song Berpayung Tuhan - Nadin Amizah. Without fully realizing it, i was not just listening to music — i was remembering ٱللَّٰه .

One of Nadin Amizah's songs, titled Berpayung Tuhan, is no longer a stranger to my ears; perhaps you, too, have occasionally heard it on music streaming platforms. This song feels like a most magical mantra, containing all the prayers humans offer to ٱللَّٰه. It’s no wonder, as the verses within this song are deeply layered with human hopes for their own lives, for living alongside loved ones, and — if explored further — even representing the hopes for human life after they are gone.

"Beralas awan, berpayung Tuhan yang baik"

In my view, the prayers we offer to ٱللَّٰه are like flying atop the clouds of hope, sheltered by ٱللَّٰه attribute, Ar-Rahman (The Most Gracious), who encompasses all prayers and allows them to be answered. How sweet this lyric is when we realize its meaning represents how weak humans can only rely on ٱللَّٰه, the owner of the world and everything in it.

"Biar kita jadi doa yang nyata, bermuara pada lapang yang indah"

Our creation and birth into this world are a collection of prayers from those around us. Our parents, grandparents, friends, partners, and many others who may have unintentionally prayed for our presence in their lives. Therefore, let us become the true manifestation of their prayers. Let us become the best version of ourselves and be of benefit to those around us, just as they have prayed with such love.

"Jalan panjang kita semoga menyenangkan"

This verse holds so many of our hopes as our present selves for our future selves. It is as if we are having an intimate conversation with our future, hoping to always find a life we can live fully with joy and gratitude. This is welcomed by the next line.

"Semua menjaga dari kiri kanan, senang mereka melihat kita senang"

This can be interpreted as a wish that, besides being pleasant and full of gratitude, our lives will always be accompanied by protection from every side. This protection can take the form of the prayers others offer for us, the joy we feel around loved ones, a sense of security, and the kindness that aligns one with another. The final verses of the song serve as the peak of its grandeur. They contain the full breadth of human prayers and hopes for themselves across all stages of existence yesterday, today, and the day after we all return to the creator. These complex and detailed hopes evoke a desire to whisper "aamiin" at the end of every line.

Biar di sela nafasmu, tenang terus jadi satu. Biar di telapak kakimu, halus dan kuat melaju. Biar di peluk ibumu, kekal wangi tanpa rindu. Biar di bawah kasurmu, mimpimu siap terbangun. Biar di dalam hatimu, harum selalu namaku. Biar saat air surut, bahagiamu terbangun. Biar saat aku jauh, semua baikku terpupuk.

May we always find peace of heart with every breath we take in life. May our footsteps always lead us toward goodness and remain strong enough to endure a life that might not be as easy as we wish. May we feel an eternal, fragrant comfort when we return to our mother’s embrace, as if the longing caused by the distance we traveled for our dreams never existed. May every morning when we wake, we are ready to build and achieve the dreams we are currently working toward. May all the kindness we have ever performed with sincerity be accepted by those around us. May we remain content, grateful, and happy with everything we have, even in difficult times. And may it be that when we eventually return to Him, the goodness we did in this world becomes a continuous charity amal jariyah in the afterlife.
