Black Holes and the Darth Vader of the Cosmos

From the dawn of human thought, people have recognized the dual nature of reality.

Day and night. Hot and cold. X and Y.

One against another, each defined by contrast.

The yin and yang symbol from ancient Taoist philosophy represents one of the clearest expressions of this idea — a lasting emblem of balance, opposition, and interdependence.

The duality in this article is just as stark: the black hole — the Darth Vader of the universe — and the Sun, its Obi-Wan.

At first, they appear to be complete opposites.

One radiates, the other traps. One illuminates, the other darkens.

But the reason for their opposition runs deeper than just light and darkness.

Obi and Darth

The Sun is one of nature’s great outward expressions.

Every second, it releases enormous amounts of energy into space.

Light, heat, and information spread.

Like Obi-Wan using the Force for the universe’s flourishing.

The black hole appears to do the opposite. Light, matter, and information become confined behind its boundary.

Like Darth Vader using the Force for control and to concentrate power.

By every visible measure, the black hole behaves like an anti-sun.

This distinction becomes even clearer when viewed through the During phase of the Final Transition Unit (FTU).

The Sun is recognized through outwardness. The black hole is recognized through inwardness.

Outward vs Inward

The difference between the Sun and the black hole is not light and darkness.

The true duality is directionality: outward versus inward behavior.

Like the yin and yang symbol, each is distinct yet the same, exerting influence over one another.

Outward is the tendency for influence to spread. Light travels. Energy disperses. Like the Sun. Like Obi.

Inward is the opposite tendency. Motion becomes restricted. Energy becomes localized. Like the black hole. Like Darth.

Within the FTU, the two key tendencies of outward versus inward are not just philosophies but physical constructs that appear together in the During phase.

What is the During?

In the FTU, rather than a single linear arrow of time, reality unfolds through three distinct angles: Before, During, and After.

The Before represents possibility.

The After represents persistence.

Between them lies the During.

It is the domain occupied by spacetime, energy, mass, gravity, and light.

In conventional physics, nearly everything we observe occurs within this phase.

This During phase is formally defined as:

D = (c¹, c²)꜀

The FTU proposes that the During is not a single pathway, but a rail system governed by traversal (c¹) and realization (c²).

It is within this rail system that the Sun and the black hole find their place.

The result is a powerful symmetry: inward and outward are not competing processes, but rather complementary behaviors of the same underlying railroad.

The Dual-Rail Matrix

The dual rail system of traversal and realization, combined with the duality of inward and outward, establishes a matrix.

This matrix yields the FTU readout effects of what we feel as time, gravity, energy, and mass.

The Dual-Rail Matrix is a coordinate system in which each readout has a location on the Traversal and Realization rails. Like individual wheels on a train car.

The outward vs inward assignments in this grid are not absolutes, but tendencies when each is left uninterupted.

The x-axis of this matrix consists of:

  • Traversal (c¹)
  • Realization (c²)

The y-axis of this matrix consists of:

  • Outward (c→)
  • Inward (←c)

The result is four natural pairings:

  1. Time
  2. Gravity
  3. Energy
  4. Mass

Viewed this way, the matrix is not a collection of separate phenomena. It is a map showing how the During phase organizes the physical world.

At the center sits the speed of light, c. It functions as the gauge that holds the rails together, providing the common reference through which outwardness and inwardness are expressed.

Atop the c-defined rail system sits the photon, γ, possessing energy but no rest mass. The photon rides the rails of the During phase, moving within the flow defined by c.

The Sun and the Outward Rails

When viewed through the Dual-Rail Matrix, the Sun occupies the outward side of both rails.

On the Traversal Rail, the Sun expresses time through continual propagation. Photons stream outward at the speed of light, carrying information across vast distances.

On the Realization Rail, the Sun radiates. Deep within its core, mass is converted into energy and released into the surrounding universe.

The result is an object whose dominant behavior is outwardness.

Like Obi-Wan, it expresses its power through giving, decentralization, and outpouring.

The Black Hole and the Inward Rails

The black hole occupies the opposite side of the matrix.

On the Traversal Rail, gravity dominates. Motion bends inward toward the center. The paths of matter and light curve toward a common destination.

Material accumulates instead of dispersing. The object grows through concentration and retention.

The result is an object whose dominant behavior is inwardness.

The black hole concentrates. It draws influence toward itself.

Like Darth Vader, it expresses its power through accumulation and centralization.

The black hole is therefore far greater than a dark star.

It is the inward counterpart of the Sun’s outward expression.

The Sun and the black hole provide visible examples of the outward and inward tendencies of the During phase.

To understand these tendencies, we must look beneath the analogy and examine the FTU readouts that generate the Dual-Rail Matrix.

Expanded Definition

Using the FTU readout formulas, we can expand the Dual-Rail Matrix and further develop the principles of the **During Room**.

In the article *The Mighty FTU*, FTU readout formulas were introduced for time, mass, and energy as BDA coordinate systems:

Fₜᵤᵀ = (ℏ/(mₚc²), d/c, ℏ/(kᵦT))

Fₜᵤᴹ = (mₚ, m, (kᵦT)/c²)

Fₜᵤᴱ = (mₚc², mc², kᵦT)

Today, a fourth readout is introduced to complete the quadrant: gravity.

Fₜᵤᴳ = (∇(ℏ/(mₚc²)), ∇(d/c), ∇(ℏ/(kBT)))

This gravity readout describes gravitation as the effect of a gradient acting across the three-phase BDA architecture.

Rather than treating gravity as an independent quantity, the model interprets it as the gradient of the FTU time field.

Where the time readout d/c varies across neighboring FTU interactions, that variation is what we experience as gravitational attraction.

With these four FTU readouts — Time, Gravity, Energy, and Mass — we can now construct a more complete Dual-Rail Matrix and examine how the **During Room** expresses these quantities through the paired rails c¹ and c².

Positioned front and center in the Dual-Rail Matrix is the photon, γ. It carries energy without rest mass, making it a natural inhabitant of the c-defined rail system.

The significance of the Dual-Rail Matrix is that it places Time, Gravity, Energy, and Mass within a single unified framework.

Rather than treating these as separate physical quantities, the model organizes them as directional expressions of the During phase.

From this perspective, time and gravity form one paired relationship, while energy and mass form another, all connected through the common rail gauge of light, c.

Using the During phase form:

D = (c¹, c²)꜀

The FTU readouts then can be expressed in the following expanded matrix form:

c¹ → (Fₜᵤᵀ, Fₜᵤᴳ) = (d/c, ∇(d/c))

c² → (Fₜᵤᴱ, Fₜᵤᴹ) = (mc², m)

D = [(d/c, ∇(d/c)); (mc², m)]꜀

What it computes is a determinant, det(D):

det(D) = m(d/c — c²·∇(d/c))

In essence, this says both terms have dimensions of momentum [kg·m/s].

So:

det(D) = momentum_traversal − momentum_realization

That means the Dual-Rail Matrix can act as a momentum-balance readout between the traversal rail and realization rail.

In Closing

The relationship between the Sun and the black hole is one of duality.

Both arise from the same rail system.

Each represents a different tendency within that system.

Obi-Wan and Darth.

One side gains meaning through the existence of the other.

Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the During formula is not the Dual-Rail Matrix, but rather deeper insights into the dualistic nature of reality itself.
