Are Mormons “Trans” Christians?

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of in my life.

Americans live in a country where people’s rights to practice their religion are supposed to be protected. That’s probably why, recently, Pete Hegseth and the Department of Defense decided to stop recognizing a bunch of religions entirely, including paganism and Wicca. They are now forced to exist under the generic category of “other religion” instead.

What also happened, that most people weren’t expecting, is that Mormons got targeted as well.

While they are still recognized as a religion, they are no longer being categorized as a “Christian” religion. Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, and even non-denominational are still listed under Christians. Only Mormons were kicked out.

We all know that the Trump administration is only interested in protecting people’s rights to practice religion if they fall under the category of “Christian,” so Mormons have been downgraded to the same level as the rest of us. This is a huge blow for them and their privilege, especially when most of them voted for and have actively supported Trump.

But this is how Christians have always behaved through history. Once Christians gain too much power, they stop solely discriminating against other groups of people and started attacking each other as well, in order to insist that their version of Christianity is the one true version and all others must be destroyed.

I was raised Protestant non-denominational and in my house Catholics were idol worshippers, the Pope was the anti-Christ, and Mormons were idiots. Because the people who criticize Christians more than non-Christians are other Christians.

They hate each other.

This new distinction for Mormons also led to many apologists defending the idea that Mormons aren’t Christians, including this post:

So, to me, this is a perfect example of how Christians are Nazi fascists in America.

Literally, Mormons and transgender people have nothing in common. Being transgender is about a gender identity and not a religion. But this person is putting them in the same category because that’s how he sees things in his head.

Everyone who is different than him should be othered in his mind. He already sees trans people as “fake,” so he tried to claim that Mormons are also “fake” Christians, and that’s why he thinks they should all be separated from everyone else.

When it comes to trans people supposedly putting on a show, wearing things as a costume, and therefore not being real supposedly, I view things similarly to how RuPaul said them.

Everyone in society is constantly putting on a performance of gender. I may not wear makeup generally, but I grew my hair long to look feminine, wear flowery dresses for the same reason, remove body hair to be feminine, even though I’d still be a woman without any of those things because I identify as a woman, I want to dress up in costume to affirm that identity.

To say that cisgender people like me are not dressing up in gender costumes to portray themselves as the gender they identify as to the world is horse shit.

We are all dressing in costumes all the time. And yet we genuinely are the gender we identify as, just like trans people genuinely are the gender they identify as.

It doesn’t make us fake and it doesn’t make them fake.

In fact, I would argue that the people who do this costuming the most are not trans people, but everyone in the manosphere, like Andrew Tate.

Every part of their life has to affirm in some way that they are men and prove to others they are men. They have zero confidence in their masculinity. They push things so far that they’re willing to abuse people, hurt people, commit crimes, and destroy every aspect of their lives, in order to maintain this costume of being a “man.”

So who is a cisgender person to dare say that a transgender person’s gender identity isn’t real?

And in the same way it’s hypocritical as fuck for these other Christians to be calling Mormons fake Christians when all the rest of them are just as fake of Christians according to his words as well.

He’s trying to pretend that they all have the “real” religion, directly from Jesus and that Mormons have the “fake” one because they follow Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.

But literally, Christianity, is the fake religion and not the original by definition, because it stole a bunch of its books and ideas from Jewish people. It’s disingenuous to pretend otherwise.

And while I get and agree that Joseph Smith sounds like a horrible person who was definitely a liar, they’re still wrong.

I mean, who the fuck would believe his story about receiving gold plates magically that only he was allowed to see and only he could interpret, that he got from an arch angel? He contradicted himself many times and kept forgetting what the interpretations were, as he dictated the Book of Mormon, yet they followed him anyway, even when it didn’t make sense to.

But other Christians have literally the same thing with the “Apostle” Paul. It’s not like they get their religion from Jesus’ “original” (he got his ideas from the Jewish scripture) teachings either. Jesus never wrote a book in the New Testament, Paul and his friends wrote a lot of them, especially the one that instructs Christians on how to be saved, Romans.

Paul’s story is also ridiculous (and something that sounds like a lie) and recounted in different ways in different places. Like sometimes, in his vision, on the road to Damascus, the other people hear Jesus’ voice and sometimes they don’t.

He never actually met Jesus, but they accept his interpretation of what Jesus was teaching when he was alive (that Paul was never there to hear) as the truth.

Joseph Smith and Paul the apostle are pretty much the same, Joseph Smith was just more recent. Both of them sound insane to me.

So as much as Mormons are fake followers of Jesus’ teachings, all of them seem the same amount of fake.

So why not just include Mormons as Christians?

The Christian Nationalists want to other them and start hurting them as a group by separating from them. The German Nazis were mostly Christians as well and did something similar with Jehovah’s Witnesses, who they eventually wound up killing in concentration camps.

This is why you shouldn’t support Christian Nationalist fascists, no how much you think you align with them.
