According to experts, there are two types of stress: positive and negative. Stress that motivates us to start and complete tasks, instills enthusiasm for planning and execution, and awakens passion is positive stress. However, stress that causes anxiety and worry, makes us nervous, and creates fear of failure is negative stress. It is crucial to understand the difference between the two. In case of persistent anxiety, seek professional advice from a psychologist or counselor to resolve the problem.

  • Be mindful, not stressful….. Avoid stress

  • Use the JPMR Technique to reduce the stress

  • The habit of living under stress gives rise to fatal diseases; stress management is of utmost importance

Even when everything is going well at home, family, job, and business, a new problem is emerging today: “stress”. It is also known as stress or hypertension. This problem is affecting everyone from children to the elderly, from those in employment and business also. People of all ages are becoming victims of stress. Work stress has its own place, but in most cases, “non-work stress” is the cause. Maintaining a certain level of stress can contribute to success, but excessive stress can lead to serious illnesses. Few people realize that this very stress poses a threat to life.

Deadly diseases

Stress, which appears minor in the form of sadness and despair, affects every part of the body. Long-term stress can lead to serious illnesses and prove fatal. Such as:

Cardiovascular Diseases: Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Attack, Stroke, Arrhythmia. It increases hormones like cortisol and adrenaline in the body. These hormones increase heart rate and blood pressure, which increases pressure on the arteries and inflammation. Plaque (atherosclerosis) can build up. Unhealthy lifestyles (smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise) contribute to the development of heart disease. Chronic stress can also trigger serious heart problems.

Immune System Disorders: Frequent infections (common cold, flu), autoimmune diseases (such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis), and increased allergies. The immune system’s function is weakened. Cortisol increases, reducing the ability to fight disease.

Mental Health Disorders: Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Panic Attacks, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Stress alters brain chemistry, affecting mood, sleep, and concentration, and can exacerbate all sorts of existing illnesses.

Gastrointestinal Disorders: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), peptic ulcers, acid reflux, bloating, and constipation. Stress disrupts the digestive system, increases acid production in the body, which can lead to ulcers or acid reflux, and can also affect the gut microbiota.

These diseases are also certain:

  • Obesity, metabolic problems, diabetes
  • Insomnia
  • Headaches and muscle pain
  • Eczema, psoriasis, skin problems
  • Reproductive problems (in both men and women)

Use the JPMR Technique

According to a well-known clinical psychologist Dr. Sanjiva Tripathi, there’s no herb that can be consumed at night and stress will disappear by morning. It can be done with a little practice every day. Relaxation techniques can be used for this. Jacobson Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) exercises are one such technique that can gradually reduce stress. Those who experience persistent stress or anxiety should practice this technique morning and night.

Deep Sleep is a Therapy

Relaxation exercises are recommended before bedtime because if we go to sleep with stress, it becomes embedded in our subconscious mind, and we wake up with that stress, and it lingers in our minds throughout the day. Being stressed throughout the day not only hinders our ability to function properly but also increases the risk of other illnesses. Lack of sleep can have devastating consequences, so it’s crucial to have a stress-free night’s sleep and wake up stress-free in the morning. Deep sleep, also known as sound sleep, acts as a form of therapy and refreshes our mind.

Be mindful, don’t dwell on the past and future

Another major cause of stress is that we tend to dwell more on the past and future than on the present. Many people tend to dwell on the present, either lamenting past failures or making new plans for the future. Both of these situations waste energy. Tasks often fail to complete on time, which further increases stress. Success under pressure becomes more difficult. Therefore, always live in the present. Strive to complete the task at hand to the best of your ability. This state is called mindfulness. This means that you should always be mindful. No matter the task, you will achieve better results.
