You Don’t Need Another $997 Course. You Need to Execute on the Ones You Already Have

Stop collecting knowledge as a shield against the fear of starting. Here is how I broke my addiction to learning and started building.

Stop hiding behind “learning”: do the work!

We’ve all been there.

You’re scrolling through your feed, and you see it: the perfect landing page.

It promises the "missing link" to your business success. It has the testimonials, the countdown timer, and the polished curriculum.

You feel that rush of dopamine.

You tell yourself:

"This is it. Once I know how to do [X], I’ll finally be ready to launch."

You click Buy Now. You spend $997. And for exactly twelve minutes, you feel like a successful entrepreneur.

Then, the email receipt arrives, the course sits in your dashboard, and life (or rather, your fear of failure) gets in the way.

My Digital Graveyard

A while ago, I switched computers.

While transferring my old files, I stumbled upon a folder I hadn’t opened in years. It was a digital graveyard. I found hundreds (and I am not exaggerating) ebooks, video courses, masterclasses, and workbooks.

Some were still in their original .zip files, never even unzipped. Others were half-finished, abandoned at "Module 1: Getting Started."

And let’s not count the paper books because there I really think I have a pathology.

It was a brutal reality check.

I realized I wasn’t buying knowledge; I was buying the illusion of progress.

Every course I bought was actually a sophisticated way to procrastinate. I was using "learning" as a shield to protect me from the one thing that actually builds a business: execution.

The Trap of Productive Procrastination

Productive procrastination is the most dangerous kind because it feels like work.

Researching the best platform is not work. Watching 10 hours of tutorials on "how to find clients" is not work. Buying a $997 course on mindset is not work.

Work is the act of putting something into the world and waiting for a reaction.

Everything else is just preparation. And if you’ve been "preparing" for six months without hitting 'publish' or 'send,' you don’t have a knowledge problem.

You have an execution problem.

The 50/50 Rule: How to Stop the Bleeding

After seeing my digital graveyard, I made a pact with myself.

I call it the 50/50 Rule, and it changed everything for my business and my mindset.

• 50% Consumption: You are allowed to learn. You are allowed to read and watch.
• 50% Implementation: For every hour you spend consuming information, you must spend at least one hour implementing what you just learned.
• If you watch a video on how to write a headline, you don’t move to the next video until you have written 10 headlines.
• If you buy a course on SEO, you don’t open the second module until you’ve optimized one page on your site.
• If you have "execution debt" aka a backlog of things you’ve learned but haven’t done, your budget for new courses must be $0.

From Collector to Creator

The world does not reward the people who have the most information stored in their heads (or their hard drives).

The world rewards the people who can turn that information into an output. You don’t need more "how-to." You need more done.

Stop looking for the next magic pill in a checkout cart. Open that course you bought last year. Watch the first lesson. And then, for the love of your business, go do the work.
