Some classic WWII films
By William Goodeve
I studied cinema and economics at USC/USF. I worked in theaters and Theme parks. I have been watching classic movies on TCM. Some good ones about WWII are “The Best Years of Our Lives”, “Casablanca”, “The Great Escape”, and the “The Bridge on the River Kwai”.
“The Best Years of Our Lives”
Three WWII veterans return home forever changed and find it difficult to adjust to their new realities.

“Casablanca”
A cynical expatriate American cafe owner struggles to decide whether or not to help his former lover and her fugitive husband escape the Nazis in French Morocco.
“The Great Escape”
Allied officers in a German POW camp during World War II make a daring plan for a mass escape.
“The Bridge on the River Kwai”
British POWs are forced to build a railway bridge across the river Kwai for their Japanese captors in occupied Burma, not knowing that the allied forces are planning a daring commando raid through the jungle to destroy it.
These movies were great. Some were in Black and white and some were in color. They have a few famous actors. I enjoyed learning about the US Military during this time period.
