Blue Shade Sails
And my dear wife’ smile

Proston Park Playground: Photo by Author
Blue shade sails cover the playground Direct in line of sight. Basketball court and half-pipe, Children’s swing and slide.
Picnic tables, barbecues, Babies’ bouncing car, Walking paths to dog park, The tree line stretches far.
The scout hut’s to the left of me, The town hall to my right. Dark clouds threaten overhead, Some rain before the night.
A water tank’s beside the car, It’s just my dogs and me. A gentle breeze is blowing, We’re parked beneath a tree.
A hopeful face says, “Come on dad, We need to take a walk.” I’ve had fur babies long enough To understand dog talk.
My wife is teaching craft today – How to make a fabric book. The writing’s done with stitches, It’s really worth a look.
We had no time for breakfast, Had to leave the house by nine. It took an hour to get here - Arriving right on time.
I bought a chicken dinner pack, Lunch for me and the dogs. To satisfy our hunger - We dove in like three hogs.
We took a walk around the grounds, To the dog park I was led. They ran around unleashed and free, Until “enough!” They said.
Then back to the car to sit, Relax and rest awhile. Just time enough the write this poem, And await my dear wife’s smile.
