Lessons in Strength
(A Poem)
Psalm 27:7–8 NIV
Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. [8] My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

The past couple
Of years
Have been
Lessons in strength
While I watched those
Closest to me
Bend until they
Nearly break
But I saw
Something else
Too the
Way even in
The midst of their
Own pain
They would reach out
To those who needed
Just a little strength!
In this time
I saw again and
Again,
How the ones
The world sees
At weak
Are the ones
Who find the
Courage to
Push through
The pain
And carry on!

I have seen
The pain and
The questions
Of lost loved
Ones
When life
Painted
Of gray
And circumstances
Lead to hard
Questions!
And still they
Are the ones
Always there
A prayer,
A shoulder
Always willing
To reach out and
Fill a need
The ones
Who often
Give until
It hurts!

I have seen
A faith so strong
That even in the
Pain they can
Always sing a
Song of praise!
