In Ghana, some people are buried in special coffins called Fantasy Coffins.

And no, these are not ordinary wooden boxes!

These colorful coffins can be shaped like aeroplanes, fish, lions, shoes, cars, chickens, crabs, cameras, or almost anything you can imagine.

The shape often tells something about the person’s life, job, dream, status, or personality.

For example —

• A fisherman may rest inside a giant fish. 🐟
• A pilot may choose an aeroplane. ✈️
• A farmer may have a coffin shaped like a fruit or vegetable. 🍍

Imagine being known as the biggest pizza lover in town…

“Where is Ravi?”

“Oh, he is inside the giant pizza!” 🍕😂

A Final Ride With Style! 😎

These amazing coffins are sometimes called “Fantastic Afterlife Vehicles.”

That sounds less like a funeral and more like someone is leaving for the greatest road trip ever!

“Ticket ready?” “Yes!”

“Luxury coffin ready?” “Absolutely!” 😄

They Are Real Works of Art 🖌️

Special carpenters carefully make these coffins by hand. Depending on the design, one coffin may take around two to six weeks to complete.

They are painted in bright colors and decorated with great detail. Some are so creative that they have been displayed in famous museums and art galleries around the world.
