Starship Scene — First Steps
I want to meld my use of Timeline and Cinemachine to create a cinematic experience involving a travelling spaceship. Specifically, my goals will be to allow switching between the outside and a cockpit view, and to go to a cinematic sequence if the user doesn’t do anything for a while. To set the scene, I’m going with this Space Transport from Filebase, and a space skybox I acquired online. For sound, I’ve grabbed the Space Ambience Pack. To try to create a more cinematic experience, I set this up as an HDRP project. That resulted in the following initial screenshot.

Not bad, if I may say so myself. Adding a little bit of Bloom helps accentuate the bright bits.

To generate the thrusters, I grabbed the free Unity Particle Pack, upgraded the texture to UDRP, tweaked a color a little, and centered three particle generators around where the thrusters are.

Lastly, I added a simple particle effect to model the idea of small particles of dust in space.

That’s not bad… now to build the cockpit.
