Introduction to SBE Buildings

Oktober 2021 — By Valeria Massari

Hello everyone!

As future students of Maastricht University, you might be curious to see the spaces where you will be having class or will be studying… that’s why today I would like to introduce you to all SBE buildings! The best part about all of them is the location in the old city centre, which is a lovely area to walk around, but at the same time the buildings have modern interiors and you can find everything you need for the best possible learning day.

The School of Business and Economics

Main Building — Tongersestraat 53

School of Business and Economics’ main building is located at Tongerstraat 53. This is where the reception and info desk are located. It is mostly dedicated to bachelor’s students tutorials, but there are two main lecture halls which frequently host lectures for master’s students as well. Finally, you can find the Mensa, which is the cafeteria of SBE, as well as a lot of tutorial rooms.

Tapijn

Tapijn

As a master’s student, most of your tutorials and lectures will take place here. Tapijn used to be a military base (“Tapijnkazerne”), but it was renovated recently and inaugurated in 2020. The colourful furniture, the amount of light coming in, and the beautiful surroundings make it an amazing studying environment. However, besides providing the perfect place to prepare for your tutorials and lectures with 160 study places, it is also filled with spaces where you can hang out and enjoy a coffee with your friends.

Tapijn Loods V Learning Spaces

Tapijn Loods V is less than one minute walk from Tapjin Kazerne and its particularity is that it is run by students for students. It offers room to 135 study places, with group rooms and individual study places. But the best part is that there are a cosy living room and a pool table available to have fun during your study breaks!

Inner City Library

Another building where you might find yourself spending a lot of time at is the Inner-City Library. You can go there borrow books, use the reference books or to sutdy. It has over 1000 study places and you can find the best one according to your preferences: from study spots and group rooms to quiet and silent rooms. There are also a garden and a little cafè where you can buy a snack, a drink, or even a small lunch.

I hope this short introduction gave you a nice insight into what awaits you here. You can also check the **Virtual Campus Tour** if you want to know something more about a specific location. If you have any further questions, feel free to comment on this post or to send me a private message

Best, Valeria
