Announcing GolfBillow: honest golf gear reviews and practical guides for players who want to play better without wasting money.
I still remember the sound. Not the clean click of a good strike — the dull, hollow thud of a mis-hit that sent my ball straight into the pond on the 7th hole. Again. With a driver I’d bought two months earlier because a “top-rated” review site called it a “game-changer for mid-handicappers.”
I stood there, club still in hand, seriously considering giving it a swim of its own.
That driver had cost me more than I’d like to admit — endorsed, “engineered for maximum forgiveness,” trusted by thousands of five-star reviews. And it hadn’t fixed a single thing about my slice.
That was the day I realized: most golf equipment advice is just marketing dressed up as expertise.
I’m Asaduzzaman Rasel. I’m not a touring pro, not a certified club-fitter, not someone with a scratch handicap and a garage full of trophies. I’m a researcher by instinct — the kind of person who, once curious about something, digs until I understand it from the inside out.
I’ve spent years doing exactly that, testing clubs, balls, and gear on my own time, on my own dime, on real courses and real practice ranges — not in a lab, not in a sponsored video.
I wanted to get better. Not to qualify for anything, not to impress anyone at the club. Just to stop dreading the driving range and start enjoying the game again.
I began by fixing my swing, then slowly upgrading gear — a new set of irons here, a rangefinder there, better gloves, a proper bag. But every time I tried to buy something new, I hit the same wall: the reviews were useless.
Some were clearly written by people who’d never actually swung the club. Some were buried in jargon that sounded impressive but meant nothing on the course.
“Optimized launch dynamics for enhanced ball flight” — what does that even mean for a guy just trying to stop slicing into the rough? Others only ever recommended the most expensive brands, as if a lower price tag meant you weren’t serious about the game.
And the worst ones? They praised everything. No downsides. No honest, “this grip gets slick when it’s humid” kind of detail. Just polished photos and affiliate links.
I looked for a site that would tell me, plainly what gear actually performs, what’s overhyped, and where you can genuinely save money without hurting your game. I couldn’t find one. So I decided to build it.
Today, I’m launching GolfBillow — a golf resource built on one simple rule: I don’t recommend anything I haven’t personally hit, tested, and, in more than a few cases, been disappointed by.
This isn’t a site for scratch golfers chasing tour-level specs or influencers unboxing gear for clout. It’s for regular players — beginners, weekend golfers, comeback stories, anyone who just wants to enjoy their round more — who want equipment that works and advice that’s true.
Whether you’re wondering if that “forgiving” iron set is worth the price or if a basic starter set is enough to begin with, you’re in the right place.
What you’ll find on GolfBillow:
• Real gear reviews with actual on-course notes — what held up after weeks of play, what looked good but performed poorly, what I’d genuinely buy again.
• Budget-minded comparisons — the best option under a certain price, the smart mid-range pick, and when premium gear is actually worth paying for.
• Practical guides — building your first golf bag, choosing your first set of clubs, fixing common beginner mistakes.
• No fluff, no filler — if a product has a weakness, I name it. A review that only praises isn’t a review — it’s an ad.
I’ll be publishing at least one detailed guide or review every week, with more as the site grows.
If you’re just starting out — maybe you’ve got a rusty hand-me-down set and a lot of enthusiasm — I’d suggest beginning with my first big guide: [“The Beginner Golfer’s First Bag: What You Actually Need (and What You Don’t)”]. Read it here: [Link]
I’d love for you to subscribe (it’s free) so new guides land straight in your inbox. And if you have a question about gear, a swing struggle, or even a product you’d like me to test, drop a comment or reach out — I read and answer everything myself.
This site is my answer to years of frustration with an industry built on hype. No fake reviews. No unrealistic standards. Just honest, tested golf advice from someone who’s stood at the same tee box you have, trying to hit it a little straighter without wasting money.
Let’s play a better game — together.
