Consider these safety measures while making UPI payments
UPI payments are popular among people as they possess multiple benefits and excellent user experience. Well, all these payments and transactions are made online, in digital form. There are so many banking mobile apps available. While using them, there is a possibility of getting security threats. Many new technologies offer multiple layers of security on your banking details and financial transactions. It is better to be aware of some safety measures to prevent such security issues. Some common effective safety measures are listed below:
Add a screen lock to your UPI app:
The first thing to do is enable a screen lock on your **UPI Payment Bank App. **You can use any type of authentication feature, such as fingerprint lock, pattern lock, pin lock, face lock etc. It is recommended to use one or two UPI apps for flexibility. But don’t use multiple UPI apps, which creates a complex situation for maintaining your payment accounts. Update your UPI app frequently to enable new security features and enjoy the updated services. Make sure your mobile device is free from harmful viruses. Update the software and use antiviruses if applicable.
Verify the receiver UPI id:
Always confirm the exact UPI id of the receiver before proceeding with the payments. When you scan the QR code or enter the mobile number of the receiver cross, check the virtual payment address (VPA) is right. I always prefer a UPI id to a mobile number. Because you may mistype the number by chance, so use UPI id to avoid such consequences. It is a good practice to send Rs 1 as a trial amount to ensure the correct recipient, and if it is right, then proceed with further payments. This is to check whether the receiver’s account was active or not. Once you make a payment, you will receive an SMS from the bank. Check whether the deducted amount was right.
Don’t share your UPI pin:
While using UPI based app, you will proceed with a 4-digit or 6-digit UPI pin. This is a unique and secured pin for you, which allows you to make payments. This pin is used for authentication purposes to ensure the safety of the account holder. So it is crucial to secure your UPI pin, so don’t share it with anyone. Try to change the pin after a certain period. So keep your UPI pin and debit card pin confidential.
Aware of spam:
It is essential to be aware of spam and banking fraud. Don’t click on any anonymous links. Always use the official bank website. Don’t pick up or reply to spam calls and messages. Banks never ask for your banking details, OTP or PIN through calls or messages. Avoid using public Wi-Fi. You can report to the cyber cell if you have received such calls or messages.
Final words:
As we frequently use UPI Payment Bank Apps to make digital payments in our daily life, it is good to be aware of some safety measures. To avoid such conflict, refer to the points mentioned above and enjoy various services and benefits.
