My partner was with me at the appointment. My love. My greatest.

I walked out and told him: “It’s not good.”

He knew what that meant. We had been told before that this could happen.

“It is cancer. But it’s not that terrible, we will fix it,” I said.

“Are you out of your mind? How can you say it’s not terrible? It’s cancer!” he said, left speechless.

A tear moved into his eye. Mine was dry.

I had to be strong for him, and for them. I couldn’t let them see me break. I had to be the rock.

“Let’s go for a coffee. I will explain everything to you.”
