Setup Visual Studio for Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O Development

In this article we’ll go over on how to setup Visual Studio for Dynamics 365 F&O Development. We’ll be creating a Solution and a Project in that solution. And selecting a Model to work with.

Prerequisites:

1. Admin access to a MS D365 F&O development environment.

Steps:

1. Log-in/open the development environment.
2. Open Visual Studio as Admin.

3. Create a new Solution. (Or open an already existing Solution)

Click on Create a new project.

4. In the next window, in search bar, enter “Finance Operations”.

Select “Finance Operations”.

Click on Next.

5. In the next window, in Project name, enter a name for your project.

Select the Location where you want to create the Solution/Project.

In Solution name, enter the a name for your solution.

Click on Create.

6. In the Project selecting the relevant model.

In Solution Explore, right click on your project, and select Properties.

7. In the property Model select the relevant model. (Selecting “LITS” as this is the model I will be working on in this case)

Click on Apply. And then Ok.

8. The Solution Explorer, will look something like this.
