Pathometabo: A Simple Tool to Understand Disease Mechanism

When I was studying medicine, I realized something important. Most resources give you facts, but they don’t always help you understand how everything connects. That’s why I built Pathometabo, a small web tool that summarizes diseases in a mechanism-based format so you can understand the “why” behind everything.

The idea came from a common struggle among medical students: memorizing information without truly understanding it. I noticed that when you understand the mechanism of a disease, everything becomes easier. You don’t just remember the symptoms; you understand why they happen. You don’t just memorize the tests; you understand why those tests are ordered. And you don’t just list the medicines; you understand how they work. Pathometabo is designed to help with exactly that. It provides a structured way to review diseases, focusing on the primary defect, affected pathway, metabolic consequences, diagnostic tests, medicines, and prevention. This structure helps students build a strong conceptual foundation, which is more valuable than memorizing random facts.

When you select a disease and click “Open,” the app reads the corresponding file and fills the cards with information.
