The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president and aspiring Nairobi Governor Richard Ngatia rekindled the memories of the late Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang campaign days of singing the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga by taking to the stage to sing for ‘Baba’.
The late Otieno Kajwang' who was known for his famous campaign song "Bado Mapambano" during Raila campaigns this time Ngatia sang a Luo chorus “Onge Ngama” to the amusement and excitement of Azimio la Umoja supporters.
Ngatia sang the chorus which the overwhelmed Azimio supporters react by singing back in loud cheers.
The businessman sang the chorus whose words were sanitizing Raila from any wrongdoing during the launch of his official campaign song in Nairobi.
Ngatia entertained the supporters as he sang:”Onge ng'ama Ngatia ose nego Ong'e ng'ama Baba osenego...Onge gima Ngatia ose kwalo...Ong'e gima Baba osekwalo" (meaning Baba has never killed anyone, Ngatia has never killed anyone. Baba has never stole from anyone, Ngatia has never stole from anyone).
Ngatia made Kajwang’s voice to be remembered of when led crowds in singing his favourite Mapambano chorus, a simple song that presents Kenya’s urgent need to continue fighting for liberty.
Ngatia’s official campaign song dubbed Kanairo Ni Ngatia sang by popular Luo musician Onyi Tialala was launched at a music extravaganza held on Friday, 4th March 2022 at the Meladen Club and restaurant that is situated along Chyulu road off Ngong road.
The Swahili Benga song, will be used in popularising and campaigning for Ngatia ahead of the August 9th, 2022 general elections.
The musical extravaganza, that was the first for any gubernatorial candidate in Nairobi brought together various other star musicians among them Kofi Macadory, Okoth Jarapogy, Kevo Mun and celebrated Mugithi musician Samidoh aka Samuel Muchoki.
This is not be the first time that Ngatia has been endorsed by other local Nairobi based musicians.
Other musicians who have endorsed Ngatia’s gubernatorial bid and are currently working on songs in praise of the KNCCI boss are Buruburu based musician Culture Milton Caltos and current Reggae artiste Buki Ranks.
Milton was the first artist to record pro-ODM music that was sanctioned by the party to popularise the party in road shows and party events during and after the 2010 promulgation of the new constitution.
Buki Ranks recently released popular reggae song in praise of Azimio, Richard Ngatia and Raila Odinga.
