“Perfect” means the best in everything. When it is clearly said that no one can be perfect, then why do we still chase the race to be the perfect in the room? Perfect in the whole building. Perfect in the field they are. Perfect in whatever they do.
Students want to have perfect grades. Athletes want a perfect score. Perfectionism is glorified by social media the most — perfect study routine, perfect skin care routine, perfect routine to win everything. People on social media show what they might be miles apart from in reality.
Why is perfectionism bad when it motivates us to be disciplined and consistent? Well, it seems that there are no serious disadvantages of perfectionism from the outside, but when you dig deeper, you will see the true face of it.
Chasing perfectionism can harm your mental health. It will leave you feeling demotivated when you fail. It will harm your relations, creativity, personality development, and overall happiness. The race to become perfect often leads to exhaustion and harm instead of being inspiring.
Perfectionism often leads to fatigue, burnout and stress. It sets a high standard that is too difficult to achieve. It makes you feel that even a small mistake is a failure. It leads to constant distress among people, whether they are not doing enough than they should.
Instead of celebrating the small achievements, people worry about what they have missed. Often, this pressure leads to emotional anxiety and panic.
Students who aim for perfect grades fear disappointing their parents, and professionals may fear of their bosses and coworkers. The fear creates stress due to an unhealthy cycle.

To be perfect, people have started glorifying working till late hours. They sleep less to work for what they want to achieve. Sleep is the most important thing for the repair of tissues. Sleeping for fewer hours increases the rate of cardiac arrest and many other illnesses.
Many great personalities like APJ Abdul Kalam have given a quote saying, “Dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep.” And I am not saying that he was wrong. He is a truly amazing personality. People take his message wrongly.
There is nothing wrong with working hard for your dreams. But sacrificing your health for it is not the right thing. Let us suppose that you achieved your dream, but what will be the use of the dream when you will have to spend your entire life in a hospital bed?

It is high time that we consider our lives and health more important than any race in becoming the most perfect. Taking our lives after failing an exam is the most foolish thing one can ever think of doing. We get only one life and enjoy it to the fullest. People will taunt for one week, two weeks, or probably a month, but after that, they will forget it. Give time to the relationships around you.
Thank you all for reading this. It means a lot to me.
I have written this to alert everyone to stop being perfect. You will lose yourself in running that race. Instead, learn from your mistakes and improve them. Be a better version of yourself.
