‘Empowered’ or Princess

Dedicated to men and feminists

By nature, men possess greater physical strength than women, whereas women are highly intelligent — some might even say cunning and manipulative.

Feminists have indeed done commendable work in helping to defend women’s rights as equal to those of men, and in breaking into traditionally male domains (including engineering, medicine, space exploration, and politics, among others); however, no extreme is ever good.

Men, too, feel they carry a rather heavy burden — having to be providers, to be brave, and to always find a solution regardless of the circumstances. In short, they grow up just like girls; yet, upon reaching adolescence, they are told that they are now the “men of the house” and must look after their mother and sisters. That adolescent is left with no choice — no option to decide his own path — and he wonders at what moment he suddenly became the all-powerful, strongest one. And so it goes for the rest of their lives.

While it is true that men are no saints — that they don’t know how to be faithful, that they can’t seem to think without their “little friend down below,” and that they make us cry and suffer — it is also true that masturbation — even with a toy — is not the same as the presence of a man… his hands, his breath, his gaze, the chemistry, his voice, his dominance…

Because, by nature, we women like to be protected — to be dominated (not the same thing as being mistreated). All of women appreciate detalis: chocolates, stuffed animals, perfumes, shoes, jewelry, flowers, invitations to go out to very places, and — above all — a man who can fix things… as: the home’s water pump, the bathroom plumbing, the dishwasher, a broken-down car, a malfunctioning stove… in short — even a broken high heel.

Any woman who says she doesn’t like details is a man — she doesn’t exist.

We — the “Warrior” or “Empowered” women who handle everything independently, who are self-sufficient — are tired of being that way. Enough is enough.

I want to stop fixing things; I want to stop being so strong. I am tired of being brave… I want a man who protects me, who holds me close, who tells me not to worry — that everything will be okay — who serves as my refuge… someone with whom I can be vulnerable without being disrespected. I want to be valued without being taken advantage of… and I ask myself: is that really so hard to understand?

I am certain that “empowered” or “warrior” women like me feel the same way… we want to be princesses — to have a man who rescues us: from ourselves, from feminists, from modernity… because it is natural for a woman to be protected, and for a man to be the provider and protector.
