Kevin Gates Crosses a Line With LeBron James Comment

What began as an ordinary Instagram live became an Internet wildfire surrounding the NBA.

Kevin Gates garnered attention for saying provocative things about LeBron James wife Savannah including her supposed jeopardising demeanour as LeBron’s spouse. A good number of fans were quite shocked with some saying this was undoubtedly disrespectful and unnecessary.

Saying that LeBron is indeed someone he admires he further went on to say that he wouldn’t want his life because of the way Savannah encourages him to live it. Other women according to him shower admiration on LeBron which has lasted for years and fuelled arguments everywhere.

The tone of the comments by the rapper was unsettling indeed. On the surface they referenced race and gender in a manner unexpectedly considered unacceptable. All Gates did was take shots at terrible generalisations.

Without mentioning Gates James posted a picture of himself with Savannah quoting Kings don’t concern themselves with the opinions of peasants. Fans interpreted that as him still providing the rational response he wanted but without raising the heat too high.

Gates did change his approach first allowing himself grace by saying he serves Allah and feels no intent to harm while defending himself. My love for LeBron is indeed the reason I said these words a claim most are not buying.

The NBA community rushed to protect LeBron and Savannah because of the image he upholds as a caring family man. Gates however received criticism for bringing what should be private into the public eye.

This rivalry may blow over but for now it is a testament to how words can provoke great reaction. LeBron remained silent with strength Gates opted for chaos and now suffers the consequences.
