Unlocking ChatGPT’s New Agent: From High‑Level Prompt to Fully‑Built Website

FYI, I am a paid subscriber to ChatGPT and I use it everyday. Last night, it surprised me with an invitation. It populated my chat box with a new feature, “AGENT,” and asked me if I wanted to try it. Of course I said YES! I’ve been waiting for this for quite a while and so when it popped up on my screen unexpectedly, I was psyched!

Agent is ChatGPT’s new feature that does full automation.

Again, this was last night. Late last night. But I gave it a small run through. A new box pops up, it looks like a blue TV screen and it runs through article after article, researd paper after research paper and within minutes gives an answer. I was impressed with its speed. However I wasn’t impressed with its answers. They were too short. So I thought, tomorrow (which is today), I will give it a bigger to do prompt. Something I know will need more energy to solve. I asked it to create a multipage website for me.

It worked for 18 minutes to craft a fully customizable web site. Now, let me preface this with what it means as customizable. It’s not plug and play by any means. You still have to go into the index.html file and tweak it yourself. So it’s not for the newbie who doesn’t know his/her way around HTML code. But having said that, let me show you what it did give me.

First let’s take a look at my prompt.

“I WANT TO BUILD OUT MY PAGES SO THAT I CAN SHOWCASE ALL OF MY BOOKS AND PUT THEM INTO CATEGORIES. SO FOR INSTANCE, WHEN SOMEONE CLICKS ON “BOOKS” IT TAKES THEM TO A BOOK PAGE (EMOTION, CREATIVE, HUMOR, MYSTERY, AND SO ON) FROM THAT PAGE, I WILL HAVE AN ORDER PAGE THAT GOES TO AMAZON. SAME FOR MY COURSES PAGE, I WANT TO HIGHLIGH EACH COURSE AND SHOW WHETHER IT’S AVAILABLE AS A DOWNLOADABLE PDF, OR DIRECT THEM TO OTHER PLATFORMS. SAME FOR “MERCH,” “FILMS,” “TEACHER RESOURCES”, “PARENT RESOURCES,” AND “MUSIC” CAN YOU BUILD OUT THESE ADDITIONAL PAGES WITH THE APPROPRIATE HTML AND CSS CODE?”

Okay. It took 18 minutes to complete this project. And here is the result.

Hmmm, kind of boring, but extremely organized. In fact, every link looked the same.

So as you can see, I’m more of a visual type of person. As a children’ book author, I want something that is friendly, child-themed, etc. And ChatGPT knows this, it helped write the code for this page. And since ChatGPT is on memory where it remembers data about me, I thought that the “Agent” would know my style. But apparently, it didn’t. So for this reason, I’m disappointed as well.

I didn’t ask for this, but ChatGPT’s Agent summarized what it gave me and it said this:

I then asked it to identify its key feautures so that my readers could ascertain if it’s a good fit or not. Here is what it said.

Here’s the good news. If you are a subsciber to one of it’s paid plans. You can use it over and over again. I was hoping to show you the first prompts I asked it last night, but they are no longer available or I just can’t find them.

It was clean, neat, and organized.

Would I use this? NO!

So for this test, I think it succeeded, but it didn’t meet my expectations.

To be honest, I was expecting more from ChatGPT. And here’s the thing, there’s a reason why I’m disappointed. I currently use another “Agent” app and that my friends, look for my next “Agent” article. I think it’s going to blow you away how good it is!
