Sorry, Not Sorry — A Song for The Pages.

No apologies coming, but it’s karaoke time again!

So I stumbled across a new publication about apologizing. And I thought, Well, I’ve certainly apologized before, thereby spinning up the wheels of story creation. I should submit something, I told myself.

There was that time that I said I was sorry about bumping shopping carts at the grocery store, but that just wouldn’t give up any kind of a story arc.

Then there was that other time I was at the bank and the teller was taking his time. I turned to the line behind me and smiled an apology for all the waiting patrons. But those two sentences pretty much tell the whole story.

And what about people apologizing to me? Pretty much the same thing —no story to speak of. Turns out, there are just so many so sorries in any given day. The Publication’s intro was right, apologies are literally everywhere all the time.

Of course, when I think about noteworthy apologies, I have them. We all do. To us, from us, in front of us, our apologies can be meaningful, clever, hurtful, or sincere — take your pick of the stories to tell.

Unfortunately for me, as my creative juices start to flow, so does my ADHD. One good thing, I lose my attention getting distracted by music more than squirrels, but once the music starts I can only give in.

So what did I hear? Johnny B. Goode by Chuck berry. Great song, right? So many of the really old rock and roll songs are just amazing (Thanks, Dad!), even better than a whole herd of squirrels.

So Chuck Berry was playing in my head as I tried thinking up an interesting apology to tell you about, but that was just not in the cards.

So instead of relating a sorry story, I will sing a song about apologizing instead. Thing is, you have to help me. All you have to do is cue up Chuck Berry playing the guitar track from Johnny B. Goode and follow the bouncing ball along the new lyrics below.
