I Am Blessed

I traveled to Ibadan during the festive season to spend some quality time with my family. After all the celebrations, it was time to head back to my base. While I was getting ready, my neighbor, a mother of two, knocked on my door. She had a crate, the kind used for holding eggs, and wanted to gift it to me.

She said, “Do you have a crate, or would you like this one? It’s new. Or maybe you guys don’t buy eggs anymore because they’re now like gold, expensive.”

I smiled and replied, “Oh, thank you, ma. I actually have one already, so I don’t think I’ll need another.” She nodded and left.

Later, as I sat alone, her words replayed in my mind: “Or maybe you guys don’t buy eggs anymore because they’re now like gold.” It sounded… I can’t describe it. It hit me that she probably meant she had stopped buying eggs herself because they’re now expensive, not necessarily because she couldn’t afford them, but maybe because she felt they weren’t worth the price anymore.

Yes, prices have gone up everywhere; it’s no news. But does that mean we should let it bother us? Absolutely not. Why? Because Jesus already paid the ultimate price for us!

My pastor once said, “One word to summarize what Jesus came to do is The Blessing.” When you think about it, The Blessing is God’s way of empowering us to live above the challenges of the world.

Let’s take a quick look at Genesis 1:26 KJV: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Here, God made two things clear:

1. He created man in His image.
2. He deliberately gave man dominion.

Man was created to have dominion, but that dominion didn’t come from just being created, it came from the blessing. God blessed man, and that blessing gave him the power to have dominion Genesis 1:28 KJV. In other words, dominion means having things the way you want them under God’s will.

God has blessed us with dominion. What is a crate of eggs? 😂

The Blessing gives us financial dominion, territorial dominion, and so much more. It allows us to rise above the limitations of the world and live the life God intended for us.

Psalm 5:12 KJV says: “For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” This means The Blessing is the rightful experience of every believer. It’s our inheritance! So, leverage the blessing for anything your mind can envision.
