Level Design: Lighting (URP)

To make your scene look fabulous, you should use a Render Pipeline. In Unity, there are two main options:
- URP (Universal Render Pipeline) — Fewer settings, great for simpler projects.
- HDRP (High Definition Render Pipeline) — More advanced features, ideal for larger projects.
In this article, I’ll be using URP for my project. But before we dive in, we need to prepare the scene.
New textures and emissions

Currently, this is how my scene looks, but I’d like to make it look crisper. First, I don’t think the yellow colors fit the overall mood of the scene, so I’ll change them to gray by adjusting the texture UVs.

To make the scene pop, I’ll add emission to a few objects. You can check out **my other article** for a detailed guide on how to do this.

Now the scene looks much better, but it’s still not quite there — we need to add URP. I also have an **article about setting it up**, which you can check out for more details.
Adding URP
After a few minutes of setup and adding various effects, this is what I came up with. There are probably still a few settings I could tweak, but it’s good enough for now.

Extra VFX
It still felt like something was missing, so I decided to add some fog — and now I think the scene is finally complete.
