Everyone depicts eldar like PJ had once depicted them: in long flowy robes, solemn and pale, aka decadent aristocracy high on opiates. EVERYTHING the elves own MUST have floral hints on it, and be art nouveau. Doesn't matter which elven tribe/folk is depicted, everyone MUST look like they're about to die and wear EXTREMELY uncomfortable clothes to add to suffering. To support my unpopular opinion, I must say that yeah elves probably DID look sad and doomed, but that was probably true about the elves of Third age. The elves of the First age were definetely less worn out. Plus, it's fun for me to imagine them wearing different types of clothes, not just generic "flowy elven robe". For instance Noldor most likely sorr something comfortable, aka shirt-trousers-vest, because those people move a lot and also have to work in forges, mines, fix things, create artificial gemstones and fight. Vanyar I ALSO imagine being dressed comfortably, but differently - they probably used linen and wool, as they lived in the mountains baby (not all of them, Vanyar from Valimar probably used linen and maybe also silk). And YES, both women and men would be wearing trousers, loose and comfortable, and woolen embroided shoes :) being elves of the Air, Vanyar probably didn't like if something limited freedom of their movements. Those who ACTUALLY would like long flowy gowns with intricate embroidery would be Sindar/Teleri, but again, their clothes would be close to Celtic gowns, not to PJ's art nouveau inventions.

In a lot of fan fiction, Feanor is depicted as an absolute narcissistic tyrant, at ALL states, and his children and his folk are genuinely terrified of him. I would say that yes, he probably could be quite dramatic even before Melkor was freed and started roaming among Noldor, trying to seduce them with knowledge; but I don't think that he was purely evil. For some reason, his sons and a lot of Noldor still followed him, and that means, that they probably loved him, and even after he turned mad, they still followed him because of the memory of good things he did for them. Elves are NOT like humans, and their perception isn't as marred as ours, so they probably would not be admiring someone like Elon Musk just because he owns Tesla :) The real Feanor's tragedy isn't that he was evil; it's that he was initially good, but later on allowed the marring to happen to his soul and caused everyone a lot of problems. I personally can imagine a fanfiction tyrant Feanor dramatically taking a dump somewhere in the Tirion toilet, screaming dreadful oaths that he will NEVER, NEVER AGAIN EAT ANYTHING WITH SO MUCH PEPPER IN IT. Also, there are no good songs about him anywhere. The most normal one is probably by Oonagh, but alas, it lacks fire. All the other songs, by Blind Guardian, for example, are great illustrations of the dramatic dump-taking with Feanor screaming from the burning sensations in his @ss.

How they draw elves, Noldor especially, but the other elves also get silly treatment, alas. For some reason, a lot of artists draw elven faces maximally elongated, almost horse-like. There is this Russian artist, not a bad one, actually, a very good one, - but when it comes to elves, she seems to have this one "generic elf template" - a long, oval face with gentle features and big eyes, that she uses for ALL of her elves, whether it's Finrod, Maedhros, Fingolfin, or anyone else. Another cliche that artists love is giving Pheanor a huge jaw and full lips, as well as a very bulky, muscular body, and make him look like Superman. Yeah Tolkien somehow mentioned that he was the mightiest of all elves, but I wouldn't depict him as a generic superhero. He probably was rather lean than bulky, wiry, with thin face and long, curious nose. If I ever depicted Feanor I would make the curiosity written all over his face, as he's not just a warrior, he's a craftsman and a scientist. He should look like he's been working in forge and making things his whole life, not attending the gym and taking steroids :)
These are some of the things in the fandom that make me cringe, hopefully, I will later provide you with more examples.
Pictures: two generic Maglors, one without pants, which is ANOTHER fandom trope, and actually-not-bad-at all Maitimo, at least they’ve captured his face relatively correctly:
