Every City Celebrates Differently. This Is Munich.

Today was special.

I’ve been doing a lot of things lately and haven’t had the chance to go out and take photos. Something I kind of left behind at some point. It’s an important part of who I am, the artistic side, the creative side. Today I finally got back to it.

Keeping cool.

Christopher Street Day 2026 in Munich. And it was quite something.

The weather was perfect. Extremely hot, but perfect for this kind of event. Munich seems to get this right every year. Last year, sunny. Year before, sunny. Tomorrow it rains. But today was just the perfect day for it.

Going in alone you quickly realize how much you can cover and how much you can’t. So many things happening at the same time, so many moments you want to explore but you have to choose. I wanted to shoot video too, but I couldn’t concentrate on both. Some people probably handle that better. For me it was clear pretty fast. Photos. 35mm. Close to people. That was the approach.

Said it with a marker.

Germany is strict about photography. You ask permission, sometimes you need a signature. But this kind of event is different. Public celebration, people out there to be seen. I still ask when I can, that’s just habit at this point. But it opens up something that’s usually closed.

Everyone showed up.

The people were extremely friendly. Open, welcoming, inclusive. You get this energy that’s hard to describe. Electrifying is the closest word. Freddie Mercury blasting from one float, techno from the next, samba somewhere behind you. Munich has its own way of celebrating this and it works. Freddie actually lived here. That connection is real and you feel it.

Munich does it its own way.

What I got today is just a snapshot. Camera issues, tried different lenses, missed things. That’s fine. This is one of the first deliveries

I want to do this regularly. Cover the city, its events, its streets, its people. More structured next time. Eventually video too. But photos first.
