Small Theory: How to Use These Tables

All regular Spanish verbs end in -AR, -ER, or -IR.

Up until the ending (-AR, -ER, -IR) the verb stays the same (this is the stem).

To conjugate in the present tense, replace the ending according to your subject using the tables below.

Formula: Conjugated verb = stem + ending from table

1️⃣ -AR Verb: HABLAR

2️⃣ -ER Verb: BEBER

3️⃣ -IR Verb: VIVIR

Simple past

Small Theory: Simple Past (Pretérito) Regular Verbs

All regular Spanish verbs end in -AR, -ER, or -IR.

Up until the ending (-AR, -ER, -IR) the verb stays the same (stem).

To form the simple past, replace the ending with the one from the table below according to the subject.

1️⃣ -AR Verb: HABLAR (Simple Past)

2️⃣ -ER Verb: COMER (Simple Past)

3️⃣ -IR Verb: VIVIR (Simple Past)

Small Theory: Simple Future (Futuro)

• All verbs end in -AR, -ER, -IR.
• In the future tense, the whole verb stays the same (you do NOT remove AR/ER/IR).
• You just add the ending to the full verb according to the table.
• Formula: Conjugated verb = full verb + future ending

1️⃣ -AR Verb: HABLAR (Simple Future)

🔥 Pro Tip (Future Tense)

• In the Simple Future (Futuro), the endings are the SAME for -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs.
• You don’t need separate tables like present or past.
• Just take the full verb and add the endings, so memorizing the below table is more than enough.
