5th Week After the Resurrection — MONDAY — Dramatic Expansion of Witnesses

“Seen by Many” (1 Corinthians 15:5–6 — MGB)

May 4, 2026 • Resurrection Day +29 Reflection in the 40 Days of Appearances to Jesus’ Ascension (Thursday, May 14, 2026)

The Growing Testimony • From the Few to the Multitudes

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:5–6 (Modernized Geneva Bible — MGB)

“And that He was seen by Cephas (Cephas is another name for Simon Peter, one of Jesus Christ’s closest disciples. The name “Cephas” comes from the Aramaic word for “rock,” symbolizing Peter’s foundational role in the early Christian Church), then by the twelve. After that, He was seen by more than five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain to this present, though some have fallen asleep (have since died).”

The question is no longer:

  • “Did He rise?”

That has been answered.

The question is no longer:

  • “What was He teaching?”

That has been revealed.

Now the question becomes:

  • “How far did these eyewitnesses go?”

From the Few — To the Many

Until now, the appearances have been:

  • Personal
  • Individual
  • Small groups

Including …

  • Mary
  • Peter
  • Two on the road
  • The disciples

But now -

Everything changes.

  • Not a private moment
  • Not a small circle

More than FIVE HUNDRED at once

This is not quiet.

This is not hidden.

  • This is very public

Eyewitnesses That Could Be Verified

Paul makes a remarkable statement:

“Most of whom remain to this present …”

In other words:

  • Go ask them, they’re still living

This is not legend developing over time.

This is not distant memory.

These are living witnesses -

At the time of writing.

People who:

  • Saw Him
  • Heard Him
  • Stood in His presence

Together.

The Turning Point in the Testimony

This moment shifts everything:

From:

  • Personal encounters

To:

  • Collective testimony

Because one witness can be questioned.

A handful can be debated.

But hundreds -

At the same time -

  • Cannot be dismissed so easily

This is where the resurrection moves from:

  • Experience

To:

  • Evidence

Before the World — A Public Reality

Jesus is not only proving Himself to the disciples.

He is establishing something that will not fade.

A testimony that cannot be contained.

Because what is seen by many -

  • Cannot be easily silenced

Visual Reflection — The Risen Christ Among Witnesses

The resurrection was not distant -

It was seen, experienced, and shared

The risen Christ stood among them -

Not as memory -

  • But as reality

The Strength of Collective Witness

This moment explains something profound:

  • Why the message spread so rapidly
  • Why it endured opposition
  • Why it could not be contained

Because it was not built on:

  • One voice

But on:

  • Many voices

Saying the same thing

A Powerful Historical Echo

Even outside Scripture -

This growing testimony was known.

Historians such as:

  • Flavius Josephus
  • Tacitus
  • Pliny the Younger

Recorded the existence of Jesus, His execution, and the movement that followed -

A movement that boldly proclaimed:

  • He had risen

This was not an isolated belief.

It became a known reality in the ancient world -

Discussed, recorded, and observed.

Not Just Followers — Witnesses

These were not people repeating a story.

They were:

  • Eyewitnesses

Men and women who could say:

  • “I saw Him”

And that changes everything.

Because Christianity does not begin with:

  • Philosophy

But with:

  • Eyewitnesses to History along with their Testimony

Visual Reflection — Christ Among Those Who Heard

The message was not delivered from a distance -

It was spoken among them

He stood among them -

  • Teaching
  • Confirming
  • Revealing

And they listened -

Not as observers -

  • But as witnesses

The Witnesses Continue to Grow

The resurrection was never hidden.

It continues to unfold through real people, real encounters, and real transformation.

40-Day Resurrection Witness Counter

  • Mary Magdalene at the tomb — John 20:11–18
  • The women returning from the tomb — Matthew 28:8–10

  • Seven disciples at the Sea of Galilee — John 21:1–14
  • Peter restored by the risen Christ — John 21:15–19
  • James — 1 Corinthians 15:7
  • More than 500 people at once — 1 Corinthians 15:6

Total Known Witnesses So Far: 526+

And the number continues to grow.

A Reflection for Today

It is possible to:

  • Hear the message
  • Understand the truth
  • Appreciate the history

But the real question is:

  • Do we see what they saw?

Not with physical eyes -

But with:

  • Faith rooted in eyewitness testimony — firsthand accounts provided by those who directly observed it

Because the resurrection is not built on:

  • One account

But on:

  • Many eyewitnesses

5th Week After the Resurrection — WEDNESDAY — “Restoring the Kingdom?”

This is a correction moment • A moment to set the record straight

  • No Longer Misunderstanding
  • God’s timing

📖 Acts 1:6–7 (MGB)

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You did not reveal Yourself to one - But to many. You did not leave behind a hidden truth - But a visible testimony. Strengthen our faith through the witnesses You established. Help us trust not only what we believe - But what has been confirmed through many. And prepare us - Not just to receive the message -

  • But to carry it forward
  • And to share it with others

Amen

1-Minute Takeaway

The resurrection was not seen by one -

  • But seen by many

Not in secret -

  • But out in the public

And that testimony -

  • Still stands
