Tirich Mir (alternatively Terich Mir or Terichmir) is a notable chain of peaks located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Chitral, Pakistan. The highest peak, Tirich Mir Main, stands at 7,708 meters (25,289 feet) and is the highest peak in the entire Hindu Kush range.
Access Routes
Contrary to some claims, Terich Mir is not accessed via Susum but primarily through the Terich Valley. The first expedition to climb Terich Mir in 1950 used the Owir route, but subsequent expeditions have predominantly utilized the Terich Valley for access.
The Terich Valley provides routes to all the major peaks of the Hindu Kush, including Noshaq, Istoronal, and Saraghrar.

Climbing History
- 1950 — The main peak of Tirich Mir was first climbed by a Norwegian expedition led by Arne Naess, along with P. Kvern Berg and H. Berg.
- 1964 — Tirich Mir East was climbed by a Norwegian expedition, with Ralph Hoibakk and A. Opdal reaching the summit.
- 1965 — Tirich Mir North was climbed by a German-Austrian joint expedition led by Kurt Diemberger, with Herwig Handler and Fritz Lindner.
- 1967 — Tirich Mir West I was summited by a Czechoslovak expedition led by Engineer Vladimir Sedory, including J. Cervinka, I. Galfy, V. Smida, and I. Urbanovic.
- 1967 — Tirich Mir West IV was first climbed by Austrian mountaineers Kurt Diemberger and Dietmar Proske via a difficult north face route.
- 1969 — Tirich Mir Little (6,550m) was climbed by a British-Pak Army expedition led by Maj. J.W. Fleming.
- 1974 — Tirich Mir West II was summited by an Italian expedition with Beppe Re and Guido Machetto.
- 1974 — Tirich Mir West III was climbed by the French Group University of Montagne et de Ski, led by Guy Lucazeau and Bernard Amy.
