I PASSED MY BAR FINALS!!

This is a timestamp of how I felt from the moment I heard my result. I wrote parts of this between calls and messages while trying to make sense of everything.

18/04/2026 12:33 am

I found out at exactly 10:30 pm on the 17th of April 2026. I had planned with my sister beforehand that she would check my result and tell me while I recorded my reaction. When my friend called to say the result was out, we did exactly that.

I GRADUATED WITH A SECOND CLASS UPPER!!

I am deeply grateful to God. He came through for me. But if I am being honest, I feel nothing.

My mind knows I should be happy. I am happy for my friends. I am happy that we all made it. But my heart is slow to catch up. I have never really known how to sit with my own emotions. For others, I am loud, present and all in. But when it comes to mine, I go numb sometimes.

Tonight is one of those nights.

So, I am doing what I have always done in situations like this. I mimic the emotions of a happy person. I have always described myself as a chameleon. I know how to blend in, and tonight I am doing just that. Not because I am unhappy, but because my heart is still trying to catch up.

Maybe it is because of a recent heartbreak. Maybe I expected more. Maybe it is just the weight of everything finally settling.

1:35 am

It feels strange to say this, but I feel like a fraud. My head is happy, but my heart feels empty. My friends keep asking if I have cried. The tears are not coming man!!

But I am genuinely happy for myself and for my friends. Every single one of us passed. We even have a First Class amongst us. Hello!!!

It is important to me that I document this moment because it matters so much. After all, God showed up for me.

At some point during law school, I had an accident on my way back to Lagos from Yenagoa during my chamber externship. A man, frustrated with our driver, smashed the window closest to me. Glass shards went into my eyes. That night, thanks to a good Samaritan who wrote me a reference letter to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, I was in a surgery room getting my eye sewn up!! I remember lying there thinking, why now, why not after I am done? It affected my focus and my confidence in ways I am still trying to understand. There were also internal battles I could not always explain, even to myself.

So to come out with this result, I know it is grace.

Ya Allah, which of Your favours can I deny? None, my Rabb. You did this for me, not because I deserved it, but purely by Your grace.

2:02 am

I am still trying to process it all. I am grateful. I will go to bed soon. My eyes are finally tired and heavy, but not before I scroll through Twitter, draft my congratulatory messages, and watch Coachella vlogs.

Alhamdulillah.

7:16 pm

Almost 24 hours later, I feel lighter.

There is a quiet sense of peace now. This chapter is closed, and I can finally move forward.

I have shared my result with people who matter to me. Their joy feels real and I can finally feel mine too.

Now, onto the next phase.

I am currently open to a junior/NYSC associate role at a law firm or organisation. If you come across any opportunities, I would appreciate it if you shared them with me.

To those currently in law school:

Exactly a year ago, I was where you are right now.

I remember when the regular set and backlog results were released. I remember exactly how I felt. I would see people celebrate and think, "One day, it will be my turn”

A year later, it is my turn.

And soon, it will be yours.

I want you to know this: the stretch between finishing your exams and getting your result is one of the strangest emotional spaces you will experience. You are done, but not quite free. You are waiting but trying to live normally. You are applying for jobs, thinking about NYSC, trying to hold yourself together while the answer is sitting somewhere, being processed.

There is doubt in that waiting. There is second-guessing. It is a lot, and people do not always say how much.

So from this side of it, the only thing I want to say is this: Read!

It is a battle, and you must win. Read as if your life depends on it, because in many ways it does. Even if you do not end up practising law, the discipline of it, the habit of it, will carry you further than you know.

Your turn is coming. It is closer than it feels.

Alhamdulillah for everything.
