Developed by Google, Colab — short for “Colaboratory” — lets you run Python code directly in your browser, without installing any software. The platform runs in the cloud and offers free access to computing resources, including GPUs and TPUs, which are very useful for machine learning and data science tasks.
One of the major advantages of Google Colab is its integration with Google Drive, allowing you to automatically save notebooks and easily share projects with others. Additionally, the interface is very similar to Jupyter Notebook, making it easy for students, programmers, and researchers to adapt.
The platform supports popular libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib, making Colab a widely used solution for online courses, academic projects, and AI model development.

Google Colab: Key Features
- Run Python code directly in the browser
- Free access to GPUs and TPUs
- Integration with Google Drive
- Collaborative notebook sharing
- Pre-configured environment with popular libraries
Despite its advantages, the free version of Google Colab also has some limitations, such as usage time restrictions, lower priority for accessing resources, and automatic termination of inactive sessions.
Even so, for many users, Colab remains one of the simplest and most accessible ways to start programming in the cloud and experiment with artificial intelligence tools.
You can access it through the official Google Colab website; all you need is a Google account to start using the platform.
