Juninho Pernambucano ~ 77 Free Kicks | part. 12

Let’s continue the 1998–1999 season.

During the last part, I was wondering whether Jaap Stam and Jari Litmanen would improve the team, and the Finn surprised me — but not in a good way.

5th December 1998

Kluivert’s hat trick crush Heerenveen. Patrick scored a lot but less than the last season for the moment.

For the moment, we’re behind Feyenoord in Eredivisie but with have three games in hand and three goals conceded.

Of course, Kluivert is currently the best scorer and the best player of the league. And our Brazilian is well placed in the ranking of assists.

9th December 1998

After a 0–0 against Liverpool at home, we travel to Italy to face the great Milan.

We won the game despite the italian domination. Our ex-player Van Vossen was the best Milan’s player of this game.

13th December 1998

B Team won against modest Den Bosch. Stam thought he had scored the last goal of the match. But Juninho came on for the final few minutes

and took the opportunity to score his 15th free-kick !

15th December 1998

Intercontinental Cup

It was a very close match, and the South American team came out on top. This is the first time Juninho has missed out on a title with the Lancers.

18th December 1998

Well, I didn’t see that one coming.

From out of the blue (unless the old lady decides to snatch the transfer from Inter), an offer from Italy’s biggest club, Juventus.

19th December 1998

The deal is finalised the very next day.

Our protagonist is spending his final days with the Dutch club.

23rd December 1998

Last game for Juninho with Ajax.

The club was due to play one last match this year, but the game was called off due to bad weather. Fortunately, Juninho was able to say goodbye to the fans at home with one final assist.

A year and a half at Ajax. 6 trophies. 76 matches, 34 assists and 18 goals, including 5 free kicks.

So far, Juninho’s 1997–1998 season with Ajax has been the best of his career. But our challenge is quite different: he still have 62 free kicks to score.

2nd January 1999

Juninho is leaving the Netherlands to join his fourth club in Italy. He leaves behind a transfer record.

First time i see that in the game. If I have to wait, you’ll have to wait for the next part too.
