Black is certainly not appropriate attire

But what is a girl to do?

Unlike my humans, I have one outfit to wear, and it’s black. All black.

On a cool, sunny day, I love sitting by the window, checking out the goings-on in the neighborhood, and soaking up the sun. It’s a great thing. That’s when my black attire comes in handy.

Unfortunately, we are getting one heck of a warm spell for a few days. It’s only early June. Too early for this humid nonsense.

Yesterday I was lying out on the porch enjoying the morning sun when Mom came out and brought me inside. Why? I didn’t want to go in.

Apparently, it was getting too hot, and Mom was turning on the central air. When that goes on, all windows are closed. The porch door is closed.

I have to admit it did feel very comfortable inside. Last night, it had been so warm I literally felt like I was melting. Mom likes to say I’m her sign that it’s time to put the central air on. She will always say I look like a little black puddle.

I do resemble that remark. When I’m hot, I will get a little drink from the fountain, then just flop on the cool floor and relax. This action will be repeated multiple times.

Hopefully, this won’t last long. My porch is my favorite place. I have my favorite love seat, and I have a nice cat tree where I can watch the critters that come visiting the yard. The woodchucks and occasional rabbit are the regulars.

For now, though, I’ll just appreciate the time inside and Mom’s lap. She’s taking a little break to enjoy the coolness in the room, so I made sure to make myself comfortable on her lap. This guarantees she will stay a little longer. Pretty smart, eh?
