Almost all major metropolises across the world face an ever-increasing traffic problem. The root causes of this transportation issue are linked to unchecked urbanization, which is further exacerbated by a lack of proper urban planning along with other contributing factors. Among the possible remedies, regulating excessive migration to these cities in tandem with robust city planning can significantly mitigate the crisis of traffic congestion.

Owing to the fact that cities are considered primary business hubs, they are flooded by rural populations seeking better opportunities and a decent lifestyle. This unchecked influx of internal migrants strains the already fragile infrastructure of these urban spaces. Furthermore, public transit networks — such as trams, trains, and metro services — are often underdeveloped or entirely absent, leaving citizens with no viable option but to rely on private vehicles. The consequences of this trend are highly visible on congested thoroughfares during peak hours.

It is widely believed that every problem has a solution, and the remedial approach to overcrowded cities is well-established. To address rural-to-urban migration, if governments intervene with strong political will to establish cottage industries, localized markets, and basic amenities in rural and peri-urban regions, the demographic pressure on cities can be greatly reduced. Additionally, existing populous spaces can be managed through dedicated urban planning, such as constructing flyovers, widening roads, and prioritizing the development of efficient public transit systems.

To wrap it all up, traffic congestion is indeed one of the gravest daily challenges urban residents endure; nevertheless, it can be systematically addressed if authorities implement practical measures to manage urbanization alongside modern, forward-thinking city planning.
