Jackson Chourio Continues Historic MLB Start While Flying Under the Radar

Jackson Chourio has had himself quite a week, putting himself in the company of some of the game’s greatest players with his third consecutive 20-homer season to begin his career.

He’s now the 17th player in MLB history to hit at least 20 home runs in three seasons by his age-22 season, joining names like Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffey Jr., Eddie Mathews, and current stars like Mike Trout and Juan Soto. It’s important to note that eight of those 17 players are already in the Hall of Fame, with more likely on their way.

The key to Chourio’s success has been his consistency year after year, even though it sometimes feels like his power comes in waves. I think that’s part of the reason you hear about Jackson Chourio in bunches. He’ll go through a stretch where he’s absolutely on fire, and then people seem to forget just how young he still is. But year after year, he continues to prove what type of player he can become, and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Chourio breaks out as the superstar we all believe he can be.

We know the potential is there. Just look at the playoffs. There’s no doubt Chourio steps up when the Brewers need him most. In 12 career postseason games, he’s hitting .341 with four home runs, 11 RBIs, and a 1.044 OPS. In just his second career postseason game, he had a multi-home-run game against the New York Mets to help force Game 3.

However, despite all of this, I still feel like Jackson Chourio doesn’t get nearly enough recognition around the league. His name seems to fly under the radar, despite the fact that he’s already one of the best offensive players on the best team in baseball. Obviously, there’s been a lot of talk about Jacob Misiorowski, and rightfully so, but Chourio deserves some more attention on the offensive side.

He’s still one of the youngest players in baseball, yet this is already his third MLB season. I mean, look at Max Clark. He’s one of the newer young players to reach the majors, and Chourio is only about eight months older than him. Even Cooper Pratt is only five months younger than Chourio, yet we look at Pratt as the young rookie. That’s how crazy Chourio’s timeline has been.

Chourio recently put together arguably the best game of his career, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, two singles, four RBIs, four runs, and a stolen base in the final game in New York. He’s carried that hot stretch into the first two games against Texas, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few more fireworks from Chourio in the coming games.
