Do humans even need to make anything?
As 2026 progresses, I realized that we humans basically don’t have to do anything. AI has gone too far.
From building apps to making essays, AI is easily one of the most used tools in the world, with popular models like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Base44, DeepSeek, and even the voice commands like Siri or Bixby for your phone. Most people — Adults, in particular, use AI in their daily lives. The uses range from fixing emails to generating whole programmes.
The world is ruined.
Just to point out, 52% of content online are made by AI, according to this LinkedIn post. That means AI is making the majority of online content, from articles to stories to videos, and people are probably using AI for writing essays too.
So what can we do?
If enough people protest, we could possibly end AI development. However, most people do use AI, and they do not want to part with their “beloved” friend online, who isn’t even real.
Or, we can just stop or limit our AI usage. Check out my other story on how to manage AI. But in a nutshell, you should try to limit you to 10 AI prompts each day. After some weeks, you feel a drastic change. You will feel like you are working harder, and getting less done per day. That’s okay. You are on the right track.
Once you adapt to this new living, usually within 2 months, you can try to set the bar lower. Try 7 prompts each day, or 5, or maybe even 3. There, you can limit your usage.
Also, a feature I like about medium is how you can report a story as “AI generated”. This helps filter out AI stories, which, in a way, limits AI usage, since AI-generated content don’t fit on medium.
But how do you know what is AI and what isn’t?
- AI often don’t give opinions, and examples are often vague.
For example, I asked AI to generate a sentence about coffee:
Coffee consumption has a significant impact on productivity levels. Moreover, caffeine is a stimulant that enhances alertness and focus. In addition, many professionals consume coffee in the morning to improve their work performance. Consequently, coffee is a staple in many workplaces. However, excessive consumption can lead to jitters and reduced productivity in the long run.
And I found a human-written one:
I honestly can’t function without my first cup of coffee, but I’ve learned the hard way that a third cup usually leads to a shaky, unproductive afternoon. It’s a total love-hate relationship. While I love that boost of focus at 9 a.m., I sometimes wonder if I’m just masking my fatigue instead of actually being more productive.
The difference is that AI lacks emotion, and it is written in 3rd person, giving a general idea, while human ones carry strong emotion and personal thoughts. AI also doesn’t give lots of examples and details, as seen above: the human version includes personal thoughts and experiences, as well as opinions.
- Using repetitive words
For example, AI will use transition words such as “meanwhile”, “in addition”, “for example”, “moreover”, and lots more. These are usually easy to spot, as seen in the coffee paragraph above. I’ve bolded the transition words in the AI paragraph.
In making all of this, I am trying to convince people to stop generating content using AI, and try to make content yourself, as it is more fun and accomplishing. For me, I used AI to debug my code for a couple weeks, and everything was easier, until the point that I realized that AI was basically writing all the code for me. So, I stopped using AI for coding. It was harder, sure, but also more fun, because I didn’t reach out to AI all the time.
Meanwhile, my friends notJonny and theGenius9 used Base44 to make whole apps for themselves. Although I believe that using AI is wrong, they countered with saying “It is a tool available for you. You are just refusing to use it. Not our problem” or something like that.
So, it all comes down on which cause you choose believe in. Number 1 is that AI is taking away our critical and creative thinking skills, as well as the fun in making something, while number 2 is that AI is a tool available for you to use, and not using it would be a waste of technology.
