My First Hackathon

I am a 2nd Year Computer science in Engineering student from College of Engineering Chegannur,Alapuzha . It took me a long 20 years to attend my first hackathon . Competition was conducted by IEDC BOOTCAMP CEC and FOCES CEC in UI/UX .

Initially they taught us how to use figma which is a tool used to design and prototype just like canva . Reo George , Edwin and Jerishab were the mentors . I already knew a lot about figma and how to use it well so it was kind of easy for me compared to other participants .

Firstly the workshop stared through online platform. It was a jolly section also accompanied by Ananthu M P how is the student lead of IEDC BOOTCAMP CEC . All participants introduced themself and Reo and Jerishab started to teach the basics of figma. The continuation of the section was 3 offline Sections . Due to some work in PRODDEC CEC and NSS CEC I couldn’t attend any of the sections but that didn’t costed me anything because they were teaching things that I already knew and the last section was a online section just like the first section but I noticed lot of participants were already dropped .

In the final section they taught us about prototype and other keys in figma and we were given a task to follow up . The task was about create a replica of your favorite app . For that I chosen to do Spotify App . Finally its time for Hackathon It was the day 26th November 2023 Sunday I was planning to go Home because monday was also a holiday for us but due to hackathon I couldn’t go. Many students don’t want the hackathon to conduct that day.But due to exam they were forced to do so .

We had to arrive at the collage for the hackathon because it was conducted there . There were around 9–10 participants . Our given task was to built a weather app having minimum of 2 pages . It was very fun and Reo helped me to use more figma keys . And we were given 2 and a half hour to complete the task

I managed to complete it and it was pretty easy for me when compared to others .As the final stage we have to present our work and everyone gathered around to present there works everyone did well .After an hour they announced the winners and i managed to got the 3rd prize . I was awarded by cash prize also by Nandhakishor(FOCES Student Lead) . After that they wind-up the section with a photograph .
