Watching K3N_ share their music is art. Yet Another Boat

I recently had the privilege of having a conversation with K3N (pronounced Ken), an incredible human with an immaculate vibe. K3N is a Metaverse DJ and a software developer. K3N_’s vibe is a smooth, flowy, magnetic, & hits the brain just right in my case. Literally! I had electricity! The music & flow is amazing.

You can find K3N_ performing in the Metaverse. Using a virtual reality headset, such as an Oculus, or a computer, you can access VRChat, and the Metaverse opens up whole universes.

I asked K3N_ what they would like for other people to know about them.

“People know I DJ, but not that I code.” they replied. That is a superpower!

K3N has had some incredible growth! Their Discord hit 500 about a month ago & is now at 786 people as of the interview date. They went from playing in rooms with the owner, staff and three patrons to consistently playing for 50–80 people in a virtual reality world. (Last night there were 77/80) Humans from around the world gather through the use of a virtual reality headset, using the virtual space of VRChat and its hundreds of different options of virtual hangout spots. I’ve included photos from a few of K3N’s sets.

K3N tells me that they just added their Venmo to their profile. @K3N____ They told me they received a tip from someone from a gig at the beginning of their show, but they told them to hold onto it until the end & if they liked the show, they could double it, & K3N would donate it. The Trevor Foundation received that generous donation. K3N told me they felt weird about receiving tips from others, so I told them to let others show love in the ways they are able. K3N pays for an Artist Pro, $200 a year, for unlimited upload pass to Soundcloud PLUS a $12 a month ad-free. They would love to take donations towards that. Let’s help support our artists!

I’ve joined K3N_ for many of their sets because their setups are really cool & the music is fire. I love the messaging on the screen: “Be safe make safe choices.” a quote shoutout for Megan R. “You’re listening to 420.1 FM” A small nod to a sacred plant.

This location was one of the COOLEST Quest-Friendly spaces I have seen. A fancy boat with a dance floor, seating, & the DJ space. I am grateful for the inclusion as a stand-alone Questie at the moment. Really grateful for the upgrade to my Quest 3. My older brother ROCKS! Yet Another Boat

Let’s talk about one of K3N_’s creations: The Button Game.

The Button Game, a concept inspired by a 2015 April Fool’s Reddit game, is a game that has a color-changing aspect (reverse rainbow style). The button has a timer that counts it down from the programmed amount of time. The colors change from purple to red before the button is either pressed or the button game ends. A simple game that boosts engagement in any Discord server with a simple click. A group goal of keeping the button alive.

The button game is simple, but simple way to get engagement. I honestly love the chart on the bottom left; it gives off ideas for a cute blanket.

Let’s talk emojis! It is commonplace to send snowflakes at the DJs, I haven’t figured out the reason yet, but it is a fun tradition, & it adds to the aesthetic. I, myself, like to send more specific with my emoji love. (see photo below!)

Speaking of emojis, you should know another one of the really amazing things about K3N_ is that they created an emoji generator! https://vrcflakes.online/ I very much want to create some that I can share when I relax with friends, socialize, & listen to great music. I have yet to try it out, but I very much want to make my own emoji!

I’ve managed to grab up 2 different K3N_ emojis that I can send off during performances. I also love to set up a pedestal to share one of them with the group. Also, this is my favorite picture I got with the emojis I threw! I threw so many emojis & they are randomized, so getting a great shot is complicated. Yet Another Boat.

I’m going to share a story with you, with K3N’s permission, so that you, the reader, will be able to share this moment of joy with us. At a previous gig of K3N’s they told me that they love the song “Baby” by Justin Bieber & that they play it every 3–4 gigs. Then I started to hear it. Hanging out in Club Chemistry tunnels, House Partys, & Round Tables. I giggle every time I hear it now. I was in the know. I enjoyed becoming part of something bigger. I felt included, & now you will too. Welcome to the K3N_ fam.

I was first introduced to K3N_ while I was hanging out in a virtual hot tub at *Round Table, a VRChat* world. I became an appreciator of the vibe. I would jump at the chance to share a musical experience with others, especially when the flow & vibe are **EVERYTHING.****

I asked K3N what their dream project would be, & they replied: a JARVIS type system! That is incredibly inspiring. That is an ambitious project, & I am excited to see what K3N creates in the future.
