Day 31: “No Water for You”

On June 23rd, I sat across from Brianna Cole in her office. Officer Atkins was there too, stiff in the corner like a piece of furniture. I hit record before the first word left my mouth, because I already knew what kind of game they were playing.

All I asked for was clean drinking water. Not rooftop cocktails. Not champagne. Just water.

Here’s the truth: my unit is the smallest, cheapest one in the building. No fridge filter. No dispenser. Nothing. And the tap water? Undrinkable. I tested it through a cat toy, and it leaked out black.

So I said: “If you’ve locked me out of the tower where I can at least get filtered water, then give me a filter here. I need clean water.”

Brianna didn’t even blink. She told me flat out:

“Your floor plan does not have water dispensers. That is the same for any other floor plan. That is your floor.”

When I pushed again, she doubled down:

“That’s not within your lease. You can get a Brita filter. We don’t do that for anybody else, so we’re not going to do it for you.”

That was her answer. At a so-called “luxury property,” the manager looked a tenant in the eye and basically said: thirst isn’t our problem.

And when I asked for their legal team? She waved it off with the line she’s repeated a hundred times:

“I’ll make sure the legal team reaches out to you.”

They never did.

It wasn’t about water. It was about punishment. About retaliation. About showing me they could control access to something as basic as drinking water.

But here’s the part that matters: I recorded the entire thing. Every word. Every excuse. Every denial. This isn’t just my memory against theirs. I’ve got the receipts.
