Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA Update: CDC has now confirmed 814 cases, 201 hospitalizations, and one death in eight multi-state outbreaks of *Salmonella illnesses linked to contact with backyard poultry. Outbreak cases have been reported in 44 US states and Puerto Rico, and involve six different outbreak strains: [Salmonella](https://efoodalert.wordpress.com/2011/11/07/profiling-salmonella-non-typhoid/)* Enteritidis, Indiana, Infantis, Kedougou, Mbandaka, and Saintpaul. Twenty-four percent (24%) of the outbreak patients are under five years of age.

USA Update: The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is reporting 9,253 total cases of Cyclosporain the state as of July 27, 2026. The July 27, 2026 total cases include approximately 475 cases that were not previously reported to MDHHS due to delayed laboratory reporting and do not represent a sudden increase in illnesses according to the agency.

Allergy Alert (UK): Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd recalls various chocolate products due to undeclared milk and soy.

Hong Kong and Singapore

Food Safety Recall (Hong Kong): FrieslandCampina (Hong Kong) Ltd recalls Frisolac Prestige Stage 1 Infant Formula (800g; Batch code 1W07KPJ; Best before September 30, 2027; Product of Netherlands) due to lead possibly exceeding the permissible level.
