When I won Physics Olympiad in 2006

My time at MES Indian School deepened my understanding of sciences, literature, and sports, and sparked a genuine curiosity in exploring how these subjects connected to real-world applications.

In 12th grade, I worked hard to place 4th in the Gulf Physics Olympiad, a regional competition across the Middle East — a milestone from what was an especially productive period for me. That same year, I was part of the MES team that placed 3rd in the High School Programming Competition (2006–07), hosted at Carnegie Mellon University’s Qatar campus.

I did not know that my photo was in the newspaper until I received a phone call from my friend. Below is the photo of Gulf Times newspaper from 2006.

Securing over 90+ marks in 6 Mathematics, 1 Physics, 1 Chemistry, 1 Science and 1 Green olympiads was a feat like no other. Apart from these, I participated in Mathematics relay won a prize. Science exhibition was a fun event where I presented a miniature set up of agricultural pesticide deployment using drone.

I won 2nd position for intramural basket ball games, 3rd position for intramural cricket games. I have been on principal’s honor’s list for physics, mathematics, chemistry and social sciences. Those years were the best days of my life!
