𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: find pockets of space & combinations

𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜

Panichelli. contributes frequently in the build-up phase dropping to the midfield line to offer himself as an option to the defenders, but his execution doesn’t meet what he intends to do. He lacks composure when taking his decisions which leads to him have an inconsistent weight of passes. He prefers to play back passes and one touched passes, looing like he is in a hurry when making his passes. This rush leads to his passes being short or too fast for his teammates to be able to control the ball. He find difficulties adjusting his body before or while having the ball, he finds ease when he plays a one touch pass with his right foot to his left side (no body adjustment needed) but his accuracy drop when he tries to play passes that require minimal body adjustments. He moves frequently in the pockets to link up with his teammates, usually protecting the ball with his body or playing a pass back to his teammates.

𝙏𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙣

Panichelli joins the build-up phase but contributes to it in another way, using his relatively tall build to secure the ball after receiving vertical passes from his defenders. He uses his body to shield the ball from multiple defenders and maintain possession. When his body is correctly adjusted he plays well executed passes to wide areas specially that the distance is big so his speedy passes aren’t a disadvantage at all. While shielding the ball from defenders his one touch passes gets the job done but when he tries to stop the ball his first touch is catastrophic leading to turnovers. Panichelli is relatively slow when running and taking decisions, sometime he arrives late to link up plays allowing the defender to reach to the ball before him.

𝑹𝒖𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅

Panichelli frequently attempts to target the space behind the defensive line, offering a proactive solution in attacking transitions. He curves his runs to avoid being offside, he has been caught offside 14 times this season in 27 apps. However, he stars to make his runs earlier than supposed to without synchronization with his teammates, leading to abandoning the ball. As he offers a lots of runs that means he will not receive a lot of these runs but he doesn’t show frustrations at all and. he transitions back to his positions.

𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀

Panichelli’s efficiency in front of goal is heavily reliant on his ability to find and exploit space within the penalty area. He is a high volume one touch finisher, during transitions he runs in defenders blind side making him unmarked and usually defenders are unaware of his presence. Even if he was tightly marked he uses his physicality to win duels and shoot headers. His positioning is reliant on his initial possession ad not on his explosive speed as he isn’t that fast. His shooting mechanic and decision making ae inconsistent , he does appear in dangerous area’s but his ball striking lacks power and placement. This is usually caused because of his poor body adjustment and with the fact that he is always in a rush. He takes shots when the ball is far from his body.

𝑫𝒚𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈

Panichelli shows high level of tactical intelligence and awareness within the team’s mid block structure. He often directs his teammates during the pressing phase. Mentally he reads the next pass and what is happening around him well but physically he is not there yet, he initiate his sprint to approach the carrier of the ball with low intensity. The lack of acceleration doesn’t help him turn good positioning into turnovers.

𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜

Panichelli’s defensive value is most evident in his proactive scanning and anticipation. He consistently scans behind his shoulders to map out the oppositions structure. The frequent scanning allows him to position in intelligent positions and cover passing lanes.
